GRAMMAR TEACHERS MEET NEXT WEEK
Orange-co Grammar School Teachers' Institute is to be held at the Fullerton grammar school buildings Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week, C. A. Mareey, principal of the Fullerton grammar school, said this morning that while all the other grammar schools in the county will be closed from Tuesday afternoon, the Fullerton grammar schools are to remain in session until Wednesday at noon. All the elementary school teachers of the county are required to attend the institute and participate in the proceedings. The high schools are not effected.
An exhaustive program has been arranged, and several eloquent addresses are expected. Rev. Frank M. Dowling of Placentia will speak Wednesday afternoon on "The Teacher and the Present World Crisis." During the forenoon the teachers are to observe the Fullerton grammar schools in session.
Mrs. R. E. Greenwood is to speak to the primary section Thursday morning on "Music—Its aim Its Scope, Its Results."
The various other sections of the Institute are to be addressed at the various buildings during the day by a corteris or orators. The Fullerton teachers have prepared an entertainment and banquet at 6:30 o'clock at the high school cafeteria. The general assembly is to be addressed in the afternoon at 2 o'clock by Dr. R. B. Von Kleinsmid of the University of So. Cal.
The general session Friday morning is to be entertained by Myrtle Llise McClellan of the University of Cal. So. branch, who is to talk on "The Teaching of Geography." S. C. Hartranft is to talk to the teachers on Friday afternoon on "What a Teacher Owes to the Community in Which He Works."
PASTOR'S MOTHER BURIED
A number of the members of the Fullerton Methodist church went to Glendora yesterday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Mary Clark, mother of Rev. Charles P. Clark, former pastor of the First Methodist Church of Fullerton. Fullerton folks who attended the funeral were as follows: W. A. Goodwin, A. S. Redfern, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Stone, Mrs. L. A. Parker, and Miss Cecelia Hahn.

PICTURES SHOW FIRE PREVENTION

WOMAN'S CLUB MEETS
The Fullerton Woman's Club held its regular meeting last night at the home of the Misses Henrietta and Marion Helm on Malvern-ave., Mrs. G. W. Sherwood, vice president, presiding. Miss Anita Shepherdson made a report on the Y. W. C. A. work in the Junior College which has been sponsored by the Woman's Club, saying that they have been enabled to send six delegates to Asilomar. They have also been enabled to furnish chaperones for the Fullerton girls swimming pool.
Following the business session, a play was given, "Lure of Spain," Mrs. A. Anderson being in charge, assisted by the Misses Lillian Anderson and Geneva Johnson. Mrs. Anderson and Miss Katherine Bradford gave a Spanish dance. Miss Johnson gave a talk on Spain, and her impressions of the Iberian peninsula during a visit there sometime ago. Mrs. Anderson sang two songs in Spanish.
Refreshments were served.
The young hostess' were assisted by Mrs. S. W. Smith and Miss Fanecheon Campbell.
PREPARE BIG PLAY
Fullerton Community Players are planning on a big play, entitled "Bachelor Hall" during the holiday season, to be directed by Thomas Askin of the Fullerton High school dramatic department. The cast has not yet been selected. The Players expect to hold a meeting November 6 and it is expected that a one-act play will be given at that time.

Funeral services for baby Guadaline, 9-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. Galeton of 317 W. Santa Ana-st, who passed away last evening, will be held at Holy Cross cemetery tomorrow at 10 o'clock. Father P. Brown of St. Boniface church will officiate at the grave. Huddle Funeral parlors has charge of the body.

HOBSON OPPOSES RETURN OF WINES
An address on "The Great Destroyer" was delivered last night at the Fullerton High school auditorium by Capt. Richmond P. Hobson hero of the Merrimae who is on a speaking tour in behalf of a band of Scientists who are trying to educate the people to the danger of light wines and beer and all other drinks containing any alcohol from strictly a scientific standpoint. There was a considerable crowd present to hear him.
He said that each generation was growing weaker because of the effects of alcohol upon the body. For instance, he pointed to Germany.
"We all know that the Germans are a great race of people. For many years they have been indulging in light wines and beers, and it has been said that it did not hurt them, but didn't it? Germany is not producing the great men today that she produced a few generations ago."
He did not consider the question at all from a moral or social standpoint, but only from the scientific.

RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 164
RESOLVED, by the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim:
SECTION I. That public interest and convenience require and that it is the intention of the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim to order the following described street work to be done in said city, to-wit:
that certain alley, being the easterly and center alley through Blocks "H" and "T", Subdivision of Vineyard Lot "D-2", as shown on map recorded in Book 34 of Deeds, Page 582, Records of Los Angeles County, California, from the westerly property line of North Clementine Street, in said city, produced across said alley, to the easterly property line of North Helena Street, in said city, produced across said alley, and from the westerly property line of North Helena Street, in said city, production across said alley, to the easterly property line of North Palm Street, in said city, produced across said alley, be graded to the official grade and paved with hydraulic concrete.
Said work shall be doled in accordance with the plans, profiles and specifications therefor, which said plans and profiles were adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim on the 5th day of October 1922, and are numbered "15" and are marked and designated "Plan of proposed improvement" on that certain easterly and westerly alley in Block "H" and "T", Subdivision of Vineyard Lot "D-3", Anaheim, California," and are on file in the office of the City Engineer of said city, and which said specifications were adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim, by resolution, on the 8th day of September, 1921, and which said specifications are marked and designated "Specification No. 21 for the construction of street paying with hydraulic concrete, in the City of Anaheim, California," which said specifications are on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Anaheim.
SECTION II. Notice is hereby given on Thursday, the 26th day of October, 1922, at the hour of 8 o'clock, P.M., at the chamber of the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim, in Room 1 of the Masonville Temple Building at No. 265 East Center Street in the City of Anaheim, California, any and all persons having objections to the proposed work or improvement may appear before the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim and show cause why said proposed work and improvement should not be carried out in accordance with this resolution.

BUENA PARK, Oct. 12.—(Spl.)—The Mitchell Brothers have bought a lot from A. L. Bennett on Grand Avenue and will erect a fine brick garage building. The building will be 50x125 feet. The front will be all plate glass and a fine display room will be installed. All repair work will be done in the up-to-date garage in the rear of the building.
The P. T. K. met at the school hall on Tuesday evening. The business of the evening was the election of a president and Mrs. L. E. Berkey was elected to fill the chair. Mrs. Berkey appointed the following program committee: Mrs. G. Crilley Mrs. George Cole, Mrs. J. Brown and Fred Bastady. Entertainment committee for next meeting: Mrs. Campbell and Mr. Fred Bastady. A short program was enjoyed. Solo by Ruth Bastady. Reading: Martha Marie Smothers. Folin solo, Melvin Hilgenfeld, accompanied by Leona Hilgenfeld, lunch and wafers were served and a social hour enjoyed.

Do you know any persons who do not speak or write English at all, or hardly so?
You will confer a real favor upon them if you tell them that beginning with Tuesday, Oct. 24th, 8 p.m., at Anaheim Evening High school, a class in beginners' English for foreigners will be started. It comes twice a week: On Tuesdays and Fridays, 8 to 9 p.m. The method of teaching this class will be the very latest, the same as in Los Angeles evening schools. Romember it is a beginners' class in spelling, reading, writing, speaking English, for people of all nationalities. A very small monthly fee must be charged.

The "kid party" given by the Womn's Club in the club house a few
evenings ago, was a decided success.
Mr. Townsend and Mr. Carnes took
prizes and Mrs. Gardner and Mr.
Erthur Bridge second for the best
costumes. About $47 was cleared
for the club house fund.
Every Wednesday afternoon the
dies will meet in the club house to
aw on articles for the bazaar to
held next month. It is hoped that
large number will attend these
meetings.
The Ladies Aid of the M. E.
church met in the church basement
saturday. A great deal of sewing
was accomplished and officers for the
following year elected as follows:
Mrs. Pearl Day, Pres.; Mrs. Edytarton, vice-president; Mrs. Lydle,
secretary, and Mrs. Edna Swain,
reasurer. The retiring secretary reserved $520 received and expended
the society for the past year. The
next meeting will be held Friday at
the home of Mrs. Mabel Stewart.
Mrs. G. Hargrave and son Edwrived home on Saturday from the
street. Edwin left here seven months
so in the hope that a change of clilege would prove beneficial to his
athth. Mrs. Hargraves spent the
summer months with him, most of
the time being spent with relatives
Lemon, S. Dakota, Edwin is lookgig much better and both are glad to
at home again.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy DeWitt and
children and Miss Thomas and Miss
Nally spent Sunday at Seal Beach.
Miss Jessanjun West of Whittier
college spent the week-end with her
rentals, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. West.
Mrs. Howard Brown arrived home as
week after spending five months
Big Bear. She expects Mr. Brown
last of the week.
Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Pickering spent
day at Loma Linda.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Kellogg and
aughter Sregame spent Saturday in
riverside, where they celebrated
her wedding anniversary.

RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 165 RESOLVED, by the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim:
SECTION 1. That public interest and convenience require and that it is the intention of the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim to order the following described street work to be done in said city, to-wit:
That that certain 20-foot alley running and southerly through a portion of block A, center tract, as shown in a map recorded in Book 1, Page 13, Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California, from the northerly property line of East Broadway, produced easterly across said alley, to the southerly line of the northerly alley running easterly and westerly through said Block "A", produced easterly across said alley, be provided to the official grade and paved with hydraulic concrete.
Said work shall be done in accordance with the plans, profiles and specifications thereof, which said plants were adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim on the 6th day of October, 1922, and are marked No. 9" and are marked and designated "Plan of proposed improvement on that certain northerly and southerly alley in Block "A", Center Tract, Anaheim, California," and are ordered to office of the City Engineer of said city, which said specifications were adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim, by resolution, on the 8th day of September, 1921, and which said specifications are marked and designated "Specification No. 27 for the construction of street paving with hydraulic concrete, in the City of Anaheim, California, which said specifications are filed in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Anaheim.
SECTION 2. That herein proposed work and improvement all proceedings taken in regard thereto shall be in pursuance of and in accordance with an Act of the legislature of the State of California, entitled "An Act provides for work in up to upon streets, avenues, lanes, alleys, courts, places and sidewalks within municipalities, and upon property and rights of way owned by municipalities, and for establishing and changing the grades of any such streets, avenues, lanes, alleys, courts, places and sidewalks, and providing for the issuance and payment of street improvement bonds to represent certain assessments for the cost thereof and providing a method for the payment of such bonds," approved April 7, 1911, and all acts amended thereof.
The foregoing Resolution of Intention is signed, approved and attested by me this 6th day of October, 1922.
