ANAHEIM DEFEATS
POMONA BY 17 TO 2
IN LEAGUE OPENER
Anaheim Elk baseballers got away to a flying start yesterday afternoon on the local high school field when they swamped Pomona in the opening game of the Cal. Elk Baseball league by the score of 17 to 2. The old reliable Harry Hughes held the visitors at his mercy. After blanking them in the first and permitting two hits, good for one score, in the second, he released but one hit thereafter per inning, no more no less. The visitors' second score came in the ninth. Hughes struck out 13.
The visitors used three pitchers. Buckles didn't last out the first inning before the local wrecking crew, being replaced by Krause. The latter stood it for a few innings, then had to give way to Clifford. The locals scored two each in the first and second, four in the third, three in the fourth, one in the seventh and five in the eighth. They scored four times more than they hit. In addition to pitching a stellar game, Hughes hit safely three times out of four up, once for a triple. Pendleton got a circuit clout.
Anaheim will play Riverside next Sunday, possibly at Corona.

Be Sure Your Daily Bread Is Made Here
When every Anaheim family eats Anaheim bread, the present Anaheim bakery will have to double their capacities. This will require bringing into Anaheim a dozen or more expert bakers. Anaheim's population will be increased by these. 30 families. New houses will have to be built to accommodate them. This will give work to every skilled and unskilled worker in Anaheim. Every dealer in building materials, furnishings and supplies will shine in the new building activity. The grocer, butcher, merchant, banker and professional man will get a portion of the additional business created by the disbursement of thirty extra pay envelopes.
Buying Anaheim bread keeps your money home to circulate among home folks. This means greater prosperity for everyone.
When you order your daily bread, don't merely ask for bread—specify Anaheim bread. If you cannot get it from your grocer, buy it from any of the Anaheim bakers.
The price of Anaheim bread is no higher than "chipped in" bread, and every loaf or Anaheim bread you buy helps build up Greater Anaheim.
YORBA LINDA
YORBA LINDA, June 19 (Spl.) Mr. Roy DeWitt entertained with a surprise stag party in honor of Chaucey Elchler, at the De Witt home on Saturday evening. The guests assembled early and were waiting for Mr. Elchler who was sent to the De Witt home on a decoy rrand. After the noise occasioned by the surprise had quieted some, the guests settled down to the enjoyment of cards. In the wee small hours the host invited the "boys" to the banquet room where stood a table made beautiful with flowers, silver and glass ware. For several feet in the center of the table a fern bank extended from which "grew" beautiful tall pink gladiolio. Candle shades, place cards and nut cups carried out the general color scheme of pink. The "feed" consisted of chicken patties, salads, pickles and olives punch, coffee, nuts candies ice cream and French pastries. Mr. Eichler was presented by the host and guests with a five-foot standard. The guests departed at a late hour voting the affair a huge success and wishing the honoree happiness. Mr. Eichler's marriage to Miss Edith Bemis will be solitary 12th December.

Liver Trouble Leads To Serious Ills
Blood Filter of the Body Is Source of Infection
Billiousness is a sure sign of liver trouble—and any derangement of the liver is likely to lead to serious if not fatal results. Torpid liver means "bile poison" in the blood—a dangerous condition. If you have pains under the left shoulder blade, coated tongue, fickle appetite, pale, muddy complexion, or attacks of headache, your liver is probably affected. Read this strong endorsement from Mr. J. W. Strawwecker, 1608 Hunter St., Harrisburg, Pa.: "I think I am truthfully say that Dr. A. W. Chase's Kills and my kidney would be worse and was so far gone would help me and any treatment I tried just made me worse." I read a little booklet of Dr. A. W. Chase's K.I.J. Pills and sent for some, and this is the result that saved my life.
Dr. A. W. Chase's remedies can be obtained at any first class drug store. To be sure of getting the genuine, see that portrait and signature of A. W. Chase, M.D., are on each box. This trade mark is your protection against imitation and substitutes.
