TELLS OF HUNGER IN THE NEAR EAST
Suffering is spreading so rapidly in the war-ravaged and famine-striken areas of the Near East that children who are merely in want will have to be abandon for those actually starving unless relief resources are considerably increased, was the message delivered by Dr. E. Guy Talbott of Pasadena, Pacific Coast regional director of Near East Relief, at the first Methodist and Baptist churches in Anaheim yesterday.
Dr. Talbott told in clear, matter-of-fact terms his observations as a member of the American investigating commission in Southern Russia and the Near East last fall. Extracts from his address follow:
"I can never blot from my memory the awful terror and deapair I, saw decipted on the faces of a hundred starving tots before the gates of one of the American rescue stations in Erivan, capital of Armenia. Within the orphanage there were several hundred happy, contented little ones, alive and well because of American generosity. Without the door we counted over a hundred thin bodies almost naked covered with sores, holding up little hands that were nothing but skin and bones, pleading to be taken in and begging for a crust of bread. They had wandered in from the hills and deserted villages roundabout where they had lived like hunted animals. Their little faces were pinched and hollow like death masks, their piteous eyes held all the terror and despair of the ages."
"But they could not be taken in and there was no bread. These children starved to death!
"The terrible situation that prevails there at the foot of Mt. Ararat, the very cradle of humanity, is due to the fact that when the Turks were driven out in April, 1921, they destroyed 140 villages and left a quarter of a million people absolutely homeless. They drove off every sheep and cow and goat and stole everything that was moveable. Not only that, but they massacred in cold blood thousands of defenseless women and children.

They drove off every sheep and cow and goat and stole everything that was moveable. Not only that, but they massacred in cold blood thousands of defenseless women and children.
"The people had no chance last year to sow any crops to amount to anything and they have but little seed this year. Today they have absolutely nothing, and the whole Armenian nation, the last outpost of Christianity and civilization in the Near East, is in a starving condition. Their only hope is America, and to this ancient Christian race America is as the kingdom of Heaven."
Dr. Talbott called attention to recent advices broadcasted by national headquarters of Near East Relief that enforced cut of 25 per cent in orphan rescue appropriations of the relief agency, caused by decreasing receipts, means that succor must be refused to tens of thousands of children outside institutions flying the American flag in a land where there is no food.

THE DELAND BRADLEY LOCAL DAILY DRUGGISTS EVERYWHERE
SOLD BY DRUGGISTS EVERYWHERE
The Anaheim Bakers have planned a series of heart-to-heart talks to point out to Anaheim housewives the advantages of buying Anaheim Bread.
The price of a single loaf of bread seems insignificant. But when you consider the total bread consumption of 8,000 Anaheim residents it runs up into a worth while figure.
It is estimated that over 50 percent of the bread eaten here is shipped in from outside of Anaheim. The money goes into the pockets of outsiders, never to return to benefit Anaheim.
Why?
Simply because Anaheim housewives have never realized the importance of asking for Anaheim bread.
There are five bakeries here—every one a good one. They maintain clean, sanitary bake shops, and make as pure and wholesome a bread as can be found anywhere.
When you buy Anaheim Bread your money stays right here, circulating among home folks. This means greater prosperity for you, for all.
Tomorrow when you order your daily bread don't merely ask for "bread"—specify Anaheim BREAD and be sure that you get it.
If you cannot get Anaheim BREAD from your grocer buy it from any of the Anaheim Bakers.
