GIVES FAREWELL PARTY TO VISITOR RETURNING EAST A courtey to Mrs. W. H. Dozier, who, with her husband, has been a guest of their daughter, Mrs. B. H. Sidnam the past winter, GIVES FAREWELL Mrs. H. L. McLelland and Miss McLelland entertained five tables of indies at an afternoon of five hundred Saturday. The home was beautifully decorated with yellow and blue flowers used in great quantities, the combination and fragrance being most gratifying. After an interesting session over the tables tallies were compared and it was found that Mrs. Newell was first prize winner, Mrs. Mantler, second, and Mrs. McKee, consolation. The tables were then pretty arranged for a delicious collation in which Mrs. McLelland was assisted in serving by her daughters, Miss McLelland and Miss Nina McLelland. Covers were laid for the Mrs. Dozier, the honoree, and her daughter, Mrs. B. H. Sidnam; and the Mesdames J. W. Newell, Eric Lamhofer, W. E. Alexander, J. A. Clayes, A. W. Reeves, Janss, Henry Tuffree, J. S. Sheridan, C. E. Normandie, J. H. Garnett, Grace Adkins, W. W. Mantler, William Jackson, W. B. Holland, Lacey, Robert McKee. Dinner to Eastern Cousins Mr. and Mrs. J. M. McDuell entertained yesterday with a three-course dinner party in honor of cousins from Maryland who are touring California. Those present on the happy occasion were Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Miller and daughter, Elizabeth, and son, Floyd, of Cumberland, Md., cousins of Mrs. McDuell; Mrs. Wm. McDuell; Miss Mary E. Garrott. Wedding Feast at Elks' In a lovely bower of spring flowers and palm leaves, Mr. John Ortega of Fullerton was the host at a delightful wedding breakfast this morning at 10:30 at the Elks clubhouse, in compliment to his brother James and wife, who were recently married. In a private dining room a most elaborate feast was enjoyed. Mrs. Ortega was formerly Miss Bertha Malcolm of Lamanda Park, and the wedding occurred last Friday. Complimenting the happy couple were Mr. and Mrs. John Ortega, Mrs. Lucy Ortega, Mr. Ray Ortega, Miss Carrie Corona, Mr. Elwood Pickerling. Baby Boy Brings Much Joy Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Braunliea of South Ohio street, announce the birth of a son Saturday night, weight eight pounds. Mrs. Braunliea is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Fay, of Nursery avenue, and is a well-known young maitron. Mr. Braunliea is connected with the S. Q. R. store. The new boy is first grandchild of the Fays and they are in a supreme happy state of mind over his advent? Zitzmanns in Yosemite A card from Mr. and Mrs. E. Zitzmann, who are "vacationing" thru the Yosemite, tells of their most delightful trip to Mariposa, among the big trees, and of the grand impressions of the "Wonderland." They passed about two weeks in Yosemite and are now in San Francisco, where they will remain another week, planning to arrive home next Sunday. This was Missionary Flag day and the following program, with Mrs. T. H. Walker in charge, was rendered: "Our Marching Orders," "Onward Christian Soldiers," Business; Porto Rico's Challenge to the Colors; The Color Bearer's Message; With the Army of the Lord in the Philippines; A Bugle Call; "Fling Out the Banner." The house was beautifully decorated with American flags, the Christian flag and a number of others. "Our Marching Orders" was the devotional topic and was led by Mrs. Charles Fay, who gave a very helpful talk. At the close of the business members all having had birthdays were called forward, and nine responded, then stood together white the society sang that beautiful hymn, "The Lord Love Thye and Keep Thee." The topic, "Porto Rica's Challenge to the Colors," was divided into subjects in such a way that they formed an acrostic—p, poverty; o-obligation; r-religion; t-training; organization; x-roads; I-liness; C-childen; O-opportunity. All of these subjects were ably discussed by different members. The foreign topic, "The Philippines," were also presented by different members and the program closed with "The Bugle Call," a beautiful poem. Everybody was very enthusiastic over the meeting, saying it was a most enjoyable and helpful one. Club Meets Saturday SUNDAY WEDDING UNITES COUPLE WELL KNOWN At a lovely, but simple wedding yesterday afternoon at the home of the officiating minister, Rev. A. B. Markel, Miss Lella Thompson, of Fullerton, became the bride of Mr. Richman Ruhl of Anaheim, only the immediate relatives of the couple being present. Mrs. Ruhl is the daughter of Mrs. H. C. Ruggles and is a popular Fullerton young lady. The bride attended the Fullerton high school but discontinued her studies to become a telephone operator, and had held this position prior to her marriage. Mr. Ruhl is the son of Mrs. Laura Marshall and is well known both in Anaheim and Fullerton where he has lived. After a honeymoon trip to San Diego and Coronado and Tia Juana they will return to Fullerton where they will live at The Gregory Courts No. 12. The announcement of the marriage will come as a surprise to many of their friends although they thought there might be "something in the air." The best wishes and congratulations of the community go with Mr. and Mrs. Ruhl to their home in Fullerton. Dine at Elks' Club Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tufree were host and hostess last evening at a very informal dinner party given at the Elks club. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Percy Bradford and Dr. and Mrs. J. H. Swan. Dinner Party on Birthday George Kohlenberger was given a surprise dinner party yesterday at 1 o'clock when several of his friends dropped in to help him celebrate. An excellent dinner was served and he was the recipient of many nice and useful gifts. In the afternoon the crowd was photographed in many poses, after which they enjoyed a motor trip to various interesting points. Dinner places seated the nonorees, George Kohlenberger, Mrs. C. B. Brown and son Harold; Lawrence Mills, Richard Meirose, Jr., Kenneth Sloop, and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Kohlenberger and daughter, Sophia. Local Girl on Program Mrs. Joe Stroup and daughter Marion have returned from Owennmouth where they have been for the past week. Last Friday Miss Marion appeared on the program at the Women's Federated club convention with a dancing number. As an encore, the popular little Miss sang several songs. Miss Stroup has appeared in several Anaheim productions such as "Dolly Dimples" and "Purple Flashes." She will also be remembered as taking part in the recent fashion show and her ability and winsome way is well recognized. Prespyterian Club Meets The Young Ladies club of the Presbyterian church will hold their regular meeting in the pariors of the church Thursday evening, June 22, at 9 o'clock. All young ladies of the church and those who have no church home are cordially invited to be present. Club Meets Saturday Miss Irma Steadman was hostess to the Saturday Afternoon Bridge club, and a very pleasant, interesting time resulted. Miss Steadman used roses and sweet peas in profusion over the rooms for decorations. After several games were played and scores were totalled Miss Baryle Kennedy was announced as winner of the first prize and Miss Isabel Dolan, second. A two-course luncheon was served at the small tables, over which discussion of the coming vacations and other summer pleasantries were enjoyed. Guests of Miss Steadman were the Misses Geraldine and Isabel Dolan, Beryle Kennedy, Katherine Dresser, Ruby Cassou, Ruth Grim, Frances Backs, who with the hostess, made a merry octette. Beach Party for Ball Girls The Laguna Beach Tent City was overrun with a bevy of Anaheim misses over the week-end when the girls who played on the base ball team enjoyed a week-end party or that popular beach. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Wadsworth were the guests of the crowd yesterday and helped transport the girls home. Included in the affair were Mrs. C. A. Bishop and the Misses Irma Young, Dorothy, Barbara and ches, Gwendolyn Wadsworth, Evertys Cordes, Grace Holdsworth, Velma Cook, Frances Adams, Mae Roquarth, Irma Younfg, Dorothy, Barbara and Ruth Bishop. Shriner Having Fine Time F. L. Werber, who makes his home with Mrs. Davis, on North La-mont-st., and who is a prominent Mason and Shriner, has been enjoying the festivities in connection with the Shrine convention in San Francisco. He writes friends here that the Bay City has shown them a wonderful time and that they have not remained in one place long enough to "burn their feet on the burning sands." Garden Grove Girl Returns Miss Mildred Lee, of Garden Grove, has returned home from Bolivia, South America, where she went five years ago as a missionary from the Los Angeles Bible Institute. Local Girl Weds Sunday At a very quiet and simple wedding which occurred at the parsonage of the Baptist church, Garden Grove, Miss Lydia Klemm became the bride of Mr. Bert Dargatz. Their only attendant was Miss Anna Klemm, sister of the bride. After a short honeymoon trip to parts unknown, the happy couple will make their home in Long Beach, where the groom is engaged in business. Mrs. Dargatz is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Rousseau, invited in a number of her friends. Several games were played and a joke cobweb was unwound. Each guest was given a string and told to follow it through all its twists and turns to the end, and there found a joke gift, which when made to whisle, ring, toot, and do all other kinds of noises, made a happy "concert." Later choice refreshments of ice cream and birthday cake were served, Mrs. Rousseau being assisted by Mrs. C. W. Kunze, of Los Angeles. The cake was a beauty, decorated with thirteen little pink candies, which the honoree extinguished, all but three, with one "blow." She received many pretty gifts in honor of the date.
