STUDEBAKER CARS RIGIDLY INSPECTED
The rigid personal inspection which Studebaker cars and all their parts receive at the factory is largely responsible for the success of distributors, says Harry D. Riley, structuring the same as for fabric Orange and their vicinities. The parts are made and put together at the company's own factories.
Last week we described the motor and carburetion. This week we describe the transmission and electrical system.
On all Studebaker chasses, the transmissions are directly behind, but separate from, the motor, thus eliminating the heavy housing required for the unit system, and providing a more flexible system of power application.
There is a flexible coupling between the motor and transmission which reduces driving shocks and smoothes out power impulses of the motor, besides taking care of any slight disalignment between motor and transmission.
The anidship transmission design is a further advantage in the accessibility of the clutch unit for adjustment or removal.
Distributor for Anaheim, Fullerton, simple and contains four taper roller bearings, easily adjusted from the outside of the case. Easy and quiet gear shifting is obtained by a second-speed gear with internal teeth, engaging with the main drive pinion when in high gear. All transmission gears are of chromed-pickel steel, carbonized and hardened. The aluminum transmission housing has an oil filler connection accessibly located at the side of the case.
All models have a two-unit starting and generating electrical system with improvements, which has proved to be most efficient, durable and economical. These units are carried on the forward end of the motor and are unusually accessible.
A battery type ignition is used with weather-proof coil and distributor cap.

"Obey the Law" are indied words of wisdom, yet how many of us let our cars remain parked overtime, hoping that they will not favor us with a sticker? How many of us run on past a street car that is loading or unloading passengers just as though no car was there, thinking and hoping that the conductor was too busy to get our number or that all the motorcycle men had left for parts unknown? How many of us resist the temptation to push the accelerator to the floor-board when we hit a nice stretch of paving?
Many, unless we happen to be driving an old car that is so full of carbon that it will not do over twenty without pounding the engine to pieces. How many of us ride over the safety zones and park our cars with although it is least known of the southern beaches, the lover of our outdoor grandeur and scenic wonders will find more to entail oils at Laguna Beach than at any other watering spot on the south coast.
Though it is only a few miles from Anaheim and reached via a well paved boulevard, Laguna has suffered because of the proximity of a number of quicker-reached beaches to this city. Then, too, it has none of the modern, artificial amusements that are dispensed with lavish hand at other summer resorts.
Ideal for Vacation
For that reason it draws none of the undesirable element, but for the tired business man, the jaded housewife, the over-worked office clerk, the seeker for a quiet, soothing spor for an ideal vacation, Laguna has no equals.
Laguna has been a veritable mecca for artists, and for several years they have maintained a colony there.

Obey the law and, while speaking of the law, remember that ignorance of the law excuses no one. In this connection it might be a good idea to get a copy of the Rules and Regulations and see just how many of them will be foreign to you the first time you read them.

It is more performative appointed in all the little things that make for refinement of appearance as well as for convenience and utility.

The headlamps are of a distinctive Packard type, all nickel finished, with bezels of characteristic black card design. The fenders are framed in the full crowned Packard style. The upholstering and the interior finish proclaim in every detail and tone the art of the experienced coach builder. Over all the external expanse of panel, line and curve there is the gleaming surface of the Packard lustre.

AARD SINGLE 6
HOWS ADVANCES
New Packard single six is unstinted enthusiasm on the buyers and prospects, says P. Randall, who has succeeded Martin as manager of the branch of Dale & Company, district Orange county.
Libraries in one car the greatest advantages of light economy of first cost and ornance, striking appearance, safety, and fine power-mergence together with the quality which only balance selected material and manufacture can secure, says all it is conspicuous for the new Single-Six is disdied by a rare grace of lineess of proportion. It is long built now, in two wheel-aths, 126 and 133 inches—lower. It is more perfectly in all the little things for refinement of appearance as for convenience and illator, for example, is high-loader. The bonnet slopes in with the radiator and body shows a flat panel effect, with long narrow closers. Back from the radi-sweeps the narrowing field distinctive Packard radiator shoulder.
Radiants are of a distinct-card type, all nickel finish-seals of characteristic Pac-ign. The fenders are fashion-the full crowned Packard upholstered and the in-shish proclaim in every pat-one the art of the experi-ish builder. Over all the ex-panse of panel, line and is the gleaming surface-packard lustre.
The achievement of greatly beauty there has been in the new Single-Six a larger measure of comfort than ever before. The longer wheel-base provides amplier room in every respect. The seats are wider and deeper; there is more room for articles carried casually in the tonneau; for driver and passengers there is always entire freedom from cramping.
In the same way an appreciable gain has been effected in the riding quality of the new Single-Six. The frame has been increased in depth incident to the lengthening of the wheelbase, and the front cross member design has been improved to insure greater strength and freedom from vibration.
