WILDFLOWERS ARE MOTOR RAGE NOW
Mr. Motorist—have you picked your spring wildflowers yet?
Everybody's doing it. Auto owners are going wild about wildflowers this year as never before in history, according to the Auto Club of Southern California.
And wildflowers in Southern California have never been so prolific nor so beautiful as at the present time. It is reported. From the Mexican border on the south to the northern confines of this territory, motorists are daily making up picnic parties to go out and enjoy the spring flowers brought on by April showers.
Poppy fields are glowing in almost every county in the southern portion of the state. Any county bordering on the desert is fortunate, as the desert is blooming now like a natural garden. It is one of the phenomena of nature according to eminent horticulturists.
An unusually heavy rainfall this season explains the great growth of flowers of all kinds in the meadow and on the hillsides. But the wild flower season will be short, lasting only two or three weeks at the most, and so motorists are urged by the club touring bureau to get out and see them at once while the seeing is good.
Hundreds of requests are received every day by the Auto club offices and so some special information has been prepared for those who wish to know how the poppy fields or other wildflower haunts can best be reached. In case you are in doubt where to tour to see nature at its best now call at the Auto club and you will be given the required directions.
This information is available to all and it will be of particular value to the many eastern motorists now visiting this section.

Chevrolet Records of Sales Broken in April
The sale of more than 30 new Chevrolets in April and approximately 40 used cars is reported by W. E. Houser of the Frank P. Taggart Company of Anaheim and Fullerton, northern county agents. Business has been improving of late, says Hauser. The company soon expect a car of sedans.
Purchasers continue to enthuse over the car's mileage and other economical features, easy riding qualities and comparatively high speed.
Hauser explains sales by one thing: Never before in the history of motoring has so much automobile been offered for so little money.
Equipment, size and power considered. Chevrolet new superior model touring car is the lowest priced car made.
As the public realizes this, he says, the company's large producing facilities.
The new superior model four-door sedan with Fisher body is the first ever offered at less than $1,500. It sells itself on sight to anyone who knows quality, says Hauser, and a demonstration quickly closes any sale to those who have never before driven a Chevrolet.
Economy Watchword New Overland Cars
(Continued from page one) and protecting the very life and efficiency of the car itself.
You must have a ride in an Overland to appreciate the restful buoyant riding comfort these springs make possible.
So with all the advantages of the Overland there is no need to pay more—no advantage in paying less.
Buy by comparison. Study the specifications; they tell you how much service you are buying with the car.
Of some two score mechanical and other advantages built into the Overland, a few are shown here to emphasize the Overland economy that proceeds from quality materials combined in a right balance of design.

Dodge Took Place Of Four Carpenters
Making a Dodge Brothers business car take the place of four carpenters is a job that would puzzle many an engineer or efficiency expert. It has been accomplished, however, by G. G. Martin, Los Angeles building contractor, who simply hooked up the rear wheel of his car to a lumber sawing attachment. And unlike the four men replaced, the contrivance is totally indifferent to the little problems sometimes involved in union cards and the 8-hour day, says Charley Mann, local distributor.
Martin took out the right rear axle of his car, pulled the left rear axle out about four inches, ran a short shaft entirely through the differential, and attached a split pulley to the shaft. He then jacked up one wheel and his sawing machine was ready for operation. The car is run at a speed equivalent to 17 miles an hour, and averages about thirty miles of sawing, so to speak, to the gallon of gasoline.
Recently when the Dodge Brothers car was put to the test it sawed all the lumber required in the erection of a seven room bungalow in one hour and forty minutes, using less than a gallon of gasoline. Besides the saving in labor, a great deal of time was gained in construction.
According to Martin, who has driven Dodge Brothers cars for seven years and is thoroughly familiar with them, his attachment does not impair the car's efficiency in the slightest degree.

NEW RECORDS MADE DURANT SHIPMENTS
LANSING, Mich., May 6.—A record among Durant dealers and distributors has just been established by the Herschede Motor Car Company of Cincinnati, O., in the shipment of a solid trainload of automobiles now on its way to Cincinnati from the Lansing plant—the second solid trainload of Durant cars to be shipped to the Herschede Company within thirty days.
A. T. Herschede, president of the Cincinnati Company, accompanies the train from Lansing to Cincinnati, to make certain that there shall be no delay en route.
More than a score of trainload shipments have left the Durant plants, in addition to many large driveways and carload shipments, to meet the demands of the Durant dealer organization, but this is the first instance where two trainloads have been shipped to a single distributor in so short an intervening interval.
A wire received at the local plant at Durant Motors from the Carter Motor Company at Denver, Colo., requests the immediate shipment of a trainload of 125 Durant four-cylinder cars. Arrangements are now being made at the plant to meet this request.
Trainload shipments from the local Durant plant this week will also include one for the H. D. Shawkey Motor Company at Pittsburgh, Pa., and which will consist of 159 four-cylinder cars. Shawkey came here last Thursday and announced that he proposed to remain at the plant until he saw his trainload shipped.

AN ALL-ROUND TIRE
Snow, mud, stone are all alike to the Goodyear cord tire according to Nenno & Bock, local distributors, who point to the qualities of the tire's cushioning which protects the mechanism of a car, lessens repairs, holds down depreciation costs and reduces operating costs to a minimum. This cushioning combined with easy traction effects an appreciable saving in gasoline and oil, also, while contents such as berries, tender fruits, eggs etc. easily injured are protected.
There is more in a tire and its form of tread than the average user supplies, said Nenno. The tread of the Goodyear was selected as the best all-round solution of the various demands in the way of roads made upon it. The Goodyear takes a firm grip of the ground; prevents skidding and at the same time is such that its lasting qualities are preserved to the uttermost.
Also the Goodyear is a California product. Anybody who wants to see just what goes into the tire and how it is made can do so at first hand by visiting the factory in Los Angeles.
