Roads The strenuous travel on desert roads, mountain grades and altitudes from below sea level to seven or eight thousand feet of Southern California is the kind that eastern automotive engineers consider ideal for really testing out their cars. In several cases factory engineers have spent months and even a year or two out here driving cars hard over this varied country in an effort to pick out the so-called "bugs" that nearly always trouble a manufacturer in the bringing out of a new car, says Bob White, Orange county distributor for Franklin and Nash cars. Southern California, with its great variety of road conditions, its long stretches of paved boulevards, rough mountain roads and steep grades, is considered ideal for the proper testing out of an automobile from the factory standpoint. If there are any so-called "bugs" in its makeup they are sure to develop under the conditions present here, and factory engineers are thus able to report back to the factory with their recommendations for eliminating the trouble. It is such severe testing as this that has contributed very largely to the high quality of the present model Nash Six.
