IN SOCIETY FOUR-FOUR WITH MISS MELROSE Miss Winifred Melrose was the gracious hostess last evening to the members of the Four-Four club. Miss Melrose took her guests to the Walnut cafe where a delicious dinner was served, dainty place cards marking the covers for Messrs. and Meadames F. A. Yungbluth, Ralph McFadden, Homer G. Ames, A. B. McCord, Fred Backs, Jr., Fred Zeppenfeld, J. W. Wallop, Wm. A. Dolan, and hostess, Miss Melrose. After the delightful dinner hour, the party returned to the Melrose where the remaining hours were pleasantly spent over the card tables, prizes being awarded at the close of the games to Mrs. Yungbluth and Mr. McFadden. GIRL ATHLETES HAVE BEACH SPORT The baseball girls enjoyed a very pleasant social time last evening following a baseball game at Huntington Beach. They went in the plunge and enjoyed a swim for some time, then ran down on the beach where they clustered around a big fire and roasted wienies, and had other good things to eat. The team had a number of boosters who enjoyed the evening with them, they being Miss Lucille Bickley, Irene Jacques and Messrs. Clinton Griggs, Arthur Mann, J. Feetham, Kenneth Mathis and Gerald Fergus. The girls on the team were Evelyn Cordes, Irma Young, Mary Poyet, Alta Chriton, Mae Requarth, Katherine Huarre Grace Holdsworth, Madaline Hartman, Frances Adams, Mildred Dickenson. PROMINENT MAN WEDS A wedding of interest to the many Anaheim friends of Dr. J. D. Thomas occurred yesterday morning in Orange, when Mrs. Elizabeth Hoy Remsberg, of Santa Ana, became his bride, Rev. M. L. Pearson, of First Presbyterian church, Orange, offering. The ceremony occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Porter, mutual friends of the pair, Mr. and Mrs. Porter were wedded Feb'y. 6th, and the bride and groom of yesterday served as attendants at that ceremony. For the afternoon this pale blue volle, embroidered in white and affording color contrast through barbaric wooden beads. home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Heinze, on West street last evening. Three tables were used, and after several rounds, Mrs. Paul Bock won first ladies' prize; Mr. Harry McDonald, men's first prize; Mrs. P. V. Brady, ladies' consolation prize, and Mr. C. J. After a short honeymoon Dr. and Mrs. Thomas will be at home on the beautiful Passmore ranch, near Olive. The groom is an influential citizen of that community and a booster for Olive. He occupies several responsible positions, among them being president of the Olive National bank, an officer of the Olive Improvement association, and is interested in several real estate promotions. Mrs. Thomas is one of Santa Ana's social leaders and will be cordially welcomed to Olive, where her husband is so favorably known. FIVE HUNDRED FOR CLUB GAME To pass a pleasant evening over five hundred, several close friends who have organized a club, but have not yet given it a name, went to the MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY We are moving on April 11 from our office over the S. Miss Louise Denton substituted for the hostess, Mrs. Heinze. HOST AND WIFE WIN PRIZE Meeting with Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Duckworth last evening, the Penochie club had a very delightful time. The prize went to the host and hostess, who formed the couple winning highest score. A supper was served after games from the small tables and a short time passed in informal visiting. Spring flowers adorned the rooms in many places. The couples playing were the Messrs. and Mesdames Edgar Hartung, B. Hartfield, Sidney Prince, Ralph Maas, Dr. and Mrs. G.W. Closson and Mr. and Mrs. Duckworth. WISE AND WITTY All virtues depend upon enough power to resist temptation. No matter how much they cost, a woman must have "bargains." Congress needs more men who know enough to say something and sit down. No man's honesty is really tested until he chance to get rid of a plus marker, but doesn't.
