BIBLE CLASS HAS
APRIL FOOL PARTY
BREA, April 5.—(Spl.) The ladies Bible class of the Congregational church held a very successful April Fool party at the church Saturday night. The entertainment was opened with a musical program consisting of several selections by the Sunday school orchestra, a clarinet solo by W. D. Adkins, a solo by Julia Culp an duet by Mr. A. Rowe and Wilson Rowe, and, lastly, several popular airs by the "April Fool Orchestra," which consisted the ladies of the class performing on combs and jazz horns.
The new pastor, Rev. E. J. Sechrist, and his wife were introduced and made short talks. The audience was then invited to march to the church parlor where they would receive the "eats." The first course was "soup"—or merely an "April Fool." The next course of "Felishes" consisted of games where the prize went to the losing side, and a story entitled, "The Legend of Brea," the blanks in which were filled in by the guests as the story was read and which consisted of "hits" and puns on the names of about 60 residents of Brea. The refreshments of a lettuce leaf, toothpick and glass of water artificially colored, containing a straw, were served on pie tins by the ladies wearing old gingham aprons; after these refreshments were "enjoyed"—real ones of cakes, sandwiches and coffee were served. All those present had a delightful time.
The Brea P.-T. Amnet Tuesday afternoon at the Laurel school for the first time. They have decided to attend their meetings between the two schools, instead of having two associations, at least for the present. Officers for the ensuing year were nominated and reports of the Mother's Congress given.

EX-SERVICE MEN FROM OTHER STATES
who have moved to Orange-co or any other county of the state since Nov. 11, 1918, cannot expect to participate in the bonus benefits already provided for by legislative appropriations or to be provided for by referendum next fall. County Commander William P. Webb, Jr., of the American Legion warned these men today. This county contains many such men, otherwise perfectly entitled to such benefits, but they must depend upon their own states, Webb declared.
The state laws provide that only men who were residents of the state when they enlisted are eligible. The date mentioned was the last date of enlistment, according to Webb.
The state already has appropriated approximately $3,000,000 for vocational and farm and home site aid, and approximately $10,000,000 more will be provided if the bond issue of this amount is voted at the fall referendum.
