Anaheim has accepted an invitation to the track and field meet to be held on the San Fernando oval next Saturday. The meet is an invitational affair and about 50 schools throughout the south will participate. Cook says Anaheim is coming home with points although the local school will have a small representation. Cook will be remembered as the sprinter who claimed the first place in the hundred yard dash at both the Try-County and Orange Co. meets held at Santa Ana oval recently. Cook also was first in the shot put in both meets and placed in the other sprints. Clayee, Mann and Selms are also entered in the meet.

The local girls fast ball team made a trip to Arlington and played nine innings of the great American game against the Sherman Indian school team, with the usual result. The visiting team came home with the big end of a 6 to 1 score.
A base ball game between Huntington Beach and Anaheim girls was scheduled for the afternoon after school. After the game the girls and their coach plan a bench party.
The sport activities will halt for spring vacation next week.

BOLSA CHICA WELL HAS HUSKY RIVAL WITH OIL OPERATORS
The Standard Oil Co.'s Bolsa Chica No. 1 has a close rival in Huntington A-17 brought in a few days ago. The new well Huntington A-17 came in at 1900 barrels and is the second largest producer that has been brought in at Huntington Beach. Originally Huntington A-17 was a 125 barrel well at 2548. Deepening the well to 2848, 300 feet of new hole increased the production of the well more than 15 times. The big showing made by this redrilled and deepened well will probably re suit in the Standard drilling a number of its Huntington Beach wells deeper. In addition to bringing in the biggest well in the leed for almost a year the Standard started work on four new wells and increased its drilling program to 25 wells.
Sixty feet of new hole transformed the Edens Syndicate from a few barrel stripper to a regular producer doing 150 barrels. At 2339 the Edens Syndicate was not a commercial producer. Drilled to 2400 feet the well get into the production column of Huntington Beach records. A liner was fished out, 300 feet of hole cleaned out, and 60 feet of new hole made, and all this work was accomplished in ten days.
The Bell of Montebello is another well that will be changed from a non-producer to a commercial well soon. At 2520 this well has not made any production to speak of. Preparations are being made to carry the hole down to 2700 or 2800 feet.
Machris Brothers have decided to deepen their No. 1 Machris No. 1 completed several months ago at 3596 came in a 350 barrel well but did not hold up. No. 2 at 4010 feet is making 1000 barrels. It is quite evident that four or five hundred feet more of hole will make No. 1 a duplicate of No. 2.
The Republic Petroleum Co. brot in a 300 barrel well at No. 3. Completed at 3848 and showing some 400 feet of oil sand a bigger well was expected. It is the opinion of Republic Petroleum men that No. 3 will increase its productions as soon as the sand subsides and the hole is free from rotary mud.
With the completion of No. 3 a 250 barrel welthe Gypsy Oil Syndicate has an aggregate production of 600 barrels a day. The Gypsy Oil Syndicate is one of the very few small companies that has actually paid dividends and made any money for its French dressing. Serve leaves, and sprinkle eau with paprika and finely parsley. Celery cut fin...
MONTHS OF SUFFERING
How a Baltimore Girl Recovered Her Health
Baltimore, Maryland. — "For several months I suffered with severe backache and general weakness. I could not sleep comfortably at night for pain in my back. I found your book at home one day and after reading it began at once to take Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound. I have had very good results and some of my girl friends are taking it now. You may use this letter to help other girls, as the letters in your book helped me." — ROSÉ WAIDNER, 2018 Roseland Place, Baltimore, Md.
That is the thought so often expressed in letters recommending Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound. These women know what they have suffered, they describe their symptoms and state how they were finally made well. Just plain statements, but they want other women to be helped.
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound is a medicine made from medicinal roots and herbs, and without drugs, to relieve the sickness women so often have, which is indicated by backache, weak feelings, nervousness, and no ambition to get anything done or to go anywhere. It has helped many women. Why not try it?
The Republic Petroleum Co. brot in a 300 barrel well at No. 3. Completed at 3848 and showing some 400 feet of oil sand a bigger well was expected. It is the opinion of Republic Petroleum men that No. 3 will increase its productions as soon as the sand subsides and the hole is free from rotary mud.
With the completion of No. 3 a 250 barrel wel lthe Gypsy Oil Syndicate has an aggregate production of 600 barrels a day. The Gypsy Oil Syndicate is one of the very few small companies that has actually paid dividends and made any money for its stockholders. Of the 50 or more stock companies that started at Huntington Beach two years ago the Gypsy is the only company that has finished in any kind of condition. The success of the Gypsy Oil Co. is largely due to the personal attention the company's affairs has been given by J. H. Macklin now recognized as one of the most successful oil operators in So. Calif.
The United States Oil Corporation has just finished its first well at Huntington Beach and put it on production at 300 barrels. This well at 3814 is one of the deepest wells in the south side of the field and judging from the amount of sand drilled thru it should not only be long lived but should increase its initial output.
The Wellington Oil Co. is now listed in the production column of Huntington Beach. Wellington No. 1 completed at 3342 went on production a 450 barrel well.
The Texas Holding Co. after battling with water for several months has No. 2 ready to go on production. Drilled to 3680 this well looks like it will surpass the famous Texas Holding Co. No. 1 brot in a year ago and still flowing 300 barrels daily.

Spanish Green Olive And Pecan Salad
THE soup may be just right, the fish delicious, the chicken browned to a turn, and the dessert may melt in your guests mouths. All these are very "usual," however, It's the "unusual" dish that will be remembered and redound to your credit as a hostess, when soup and dessert have been forgotten.
Here's an "unusual" salad, the recipe of which has just been composed by a leading dietitian. It will be a novelty on any dinner table—and a tasty novelty at that:
Select the large size Spanish green olives for this salad, and cut them in quarters lengthwise. Cut pecan meats in halves, then in quarters, using one-fourth pound pecans to a pint bottle of olive. To these quantities, add a cup of nicely seasoned cottage cheese, mixing all together well, and moistening with French dressing. Serve on lettuce leaves, and sprinkle each serving with paprika and finely chopped parsley. Celery cut fine may be

HOME-MADE AIRPLANES USED IN HAWAII CENTURIES AGO WASHINGTON, April 3—The Air Service has recently learned from natives that Hawaiians flew centuries ago in home-made airplanes. The ancients used gliders built light but strong sticks over oven with loula palm leaves. Consts were held in which the winter was determined by the length time he remained in the air. By shifting his weight, the Hawaiian could zigzag from a high ff down to the sea. The game is known as lele pall, or jumping from the cliff.
Frequently a glider, manned by excited or careless pilot, exited a nose-dive after the mannec modern flyers. JUNIOR HIGH WINS
The boys of the junior high school were feeling good today. Their second team put one over on the high school freshmen last evening, the junior high getting big end of a 9 to 5 score. In a previous game, the first junior high team had played the high school to a tie, so they decided to bring out their second team. Perhaps at the next game, the junior high school third team will play the high school to see if they can get a decision, it was stated today.
