SOCIETY LODGES :: CLUBS :: CHURCHES HONOR BESTOWED BY FRIENDS OF DECEMBER BRIDE As a prenuptial compliment, Miss Lillian Dumpke was the surprised honoree at a miscellaneous shower given at the home of Mrs. L. C. Blake by Mrs. W. J. Jewell on Saturday afternoon at 2:30. The rooms were tastily decorated with bright red hearts and green streamers extending from the chandeliers to the corners of the rooms. As all were sitting about the dining table busily conversing, Mrs. Jewell presented Miss Dumpke with a large basket and this was found to contain many pretty presents that are dear to the hearts of all brides-to-be. Miss Dumpke will become the bride of Raymond Potter of Orange, on December 21. After the pretty contents of the basket were revealed, and the excitement subdued, a delicious luncheon was served. These enjoying the afternoon with Miss Dumpke were the Misses Lillian Bennerscheidt, Alice Pannier, Coy Amack, Buelah Schmidt of Long Beach, Lucinda Dumpke, Edith Hedstrom, Rheresa Stewert, Flora Yeomen, Orange; Mesdames Carl Leib, Wayne Amack, W. P. Quarton, Wade Quarton of Fullerton, Gerlock of Fulerton, Elisie Blake, Will Dumpke, Alice Booth, E. M. Carver, R. C. Hem Folkers, Claud Potter of Orange, and the hostess, Mrs. W. J. Jewell. LOS ANGELES GUESTS AT DINNER Mrs. Ella Williams of the Colonial Apts., entertained last evening with a pleasant dinner, having as her HOUSEWARMING IS GIVEN RAMELLOS BY FORTY FRIENDS Mr. AND Mrs. Earl HamELLO were happily surprised an evening last week when, with Mr. and Mrs. Phil Daniels as host and hostess, a merry company went to the new home of the Ramellos on East Center street, to give it a proper housewarming. The Daniels had been invited by the Ramellos to pass the evening with them, but had no idea they were bringing along 40 other guests. However, this greatly pleased them, they realizing "the mere merrier" Quantities of pretty flowers were carried along and the handsome home was quickly decorated with greenery and blooms of various kinds. Cards, games and dancing filled the evening with delight, and at midnight a two-course luncheon was served, and at an even later hour, Mrs. Ramello, who has a reputation as a taffy maker, was induced to make candy for the crowd, and a live-taffy-pulling resulted. The honorees were presented with many pretty articles for their new home. O. E. S. RECEPTION TONIGHT Chispa chapter, O. E. S. will hold a very pleasant meeting tonight when initiation of two candidates will be conducted, the degrees being conferred by officers from Scepter chapter. Orange. It will also be the occasion for a reception to the seventy new members who have received the degrees during the past year. On Dec. 12 at 6:30 PM there will be a reception to the solos and little Miss Sarah Muirhead. NEW RECREATION HALL PRESESS TO STANDARD O. R. R. The occasion will mark the banner event in the history of the Standard Oil Co.'s social functions. The lease was greatly illuminated by five big gas torches, which were kept burning. The inspiration for the affair was the completion of new recreation hall, and this was the formal opening. The hall was presented to the employees of the Standard Oil Co. for their benefit and use, and to make the place as home-like as possible, a large fireplace has been erected in one side of the hall. There are several stands and tables on which are found books and magazines to suit each individual. As a token of appreciation for what the boys have done, Mr. Sam Traemer presented to the hall a beautiful Kurtzman baby grand piano. A gurgle runs around the three sides of the building and on this particular evening the hall was made more pleasant by the appropriate decorations of holly and greenery, which were used. The early part of the evening was given over to Chef Winger and his able assistants to serve the meal that had been prepared. The big juicy steaks made everybody hungry and together with beans, rams and salad, made a most delicious outdoor supper. After the nine hundred of the employees and their lives and sweethearts had been fed, I gathered in front of the hall where a program, of which George Thomas had charge, was rendered. Thomas H. Sutton, well known among the oil men, delighted the audience with several very enjoyable clos. He was accompanied by Mrs. O. Tallman, on the piano. Among the songs he sang were "Motherachree" and "For You Alone." Another surprise that was happily realized was the solos and dances by little Miss Sarah Muirhead, with the TURKEY DINER AT "GLENROSE" Presiding over a dinner at which twenty-six members of the family were seated Mr. and Mrs. William Pannier were the gracious host and hostesses yesterday at their beaquitiful home "Glenrose," on East street. The table fairly groaned with its load of turkey and accompanying good things to eat, and covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Weise and son, Carl, of Long Beach, Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Hassheider, Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Gloege and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Nigg and son, Mrs. C. A. Nigg and Harold Nigg, all of Covina; Mrs. C. H. Bonsecy, of Los Angeles; Miss Rose Nigg and Miss Esther Baumgartner, of Los Angeles and Mr. and Mrs. Pannier and family. Passing the afternoon together in relating pleasantries of the members of the family, the day sped away, but is one long to be remembered. EVENING DINNER AT PARENTS' Mr. and Mrs. T.L.Hoag were members of a dinner party last evening at the home of Mr.Hoag's parents, in Compton. Other members of the company were Mr. and Mrs.Gifford Hoag, Mr. and Mrs.Chance Hoag, of Long Beach; Mr. and Mrs.Balley, of Chino; Mrs.Lizzie Hoag, of Los Angeles, and Master Earl Hoag, who had been the guest of his grandparents in Compton since Thursday evening. The dinner was served at six o'clock, and after a short evening together, the guests all returned to their homes, Master Earl accompanying his parents, Mr. and Mrs.T.L.Hoag. NURSE BECOMES BRIDE The marriage of Miss Sadie Agnes Adams to Mr.Roy Gibson Chambers occurred Saturday afternoon at 2:30 in Santa Ana, Justice Cox officiating.The newlyweds have not returned to Anaheim and have not made their future residence known to their friends. Mrs. Chambers was connected with the Anaheim hospital as a nurse and left her position only Friday. Thomas Meighan is seen tonight at the California in "Cappy Ricks." It is a typical Meighan picture, and has been furnished by the management for fans who love this star. There are also musical selections and vaudeville.Charles Hawley will be at the pipe organ.
