DUDLEY WILL FIGHT IN SAN DIEGO WED.
Dudley, Anaheim's colored flash, will battle Jimmy Meyers, the punching newsboy, in the main event at Dreamland arena, San Diego, Wednesday.

SPORT BANK BETTING CLAIMS MANY DUPES
BERLIN, Oct. 24.—In May Carl Kochn founded in Berlin a "Sportbank," and in the three months before it went into liquidation accumulated debts totalling 66,000,000 marks, to meet which there seem to be no assets.
The creditors number over 50,000, mostly small investors attracted by dazzling promise that their capital would be doubled in a few months by a better system which, as a matter of fact, resulted in 9,500,000 losses against nearly 6,000,000 won.
The total indebtedness is said to be about 79,000,000 marks and the assets only 13,000,000 marks. The question now is what has become of the money, and Kochn's bank account and investments are being investigated.

It became quite exciting at one time, when the Indian picked up a nail and the rider had to speed up to get to the goat and pump the tire. It was necessary to make the 10-mile course within 50 minutes. The Henderson lost the intex rocker and wouldn't fire except at a rapid speed. The Henderson went out of the race with a broken gasoline line.

WALKER SPEAKS ON POTTER AND CLAY
The wonderful parable of the potter and the clay, was the theme of the morning at the Presbyterian church. The pastor, Rev. Thomas H. Walker, spoke in part as follows:
"The prophet Jeremiah was sent down to the home of the potter to learn the secret of God's dealings with his people. On the wheel he saw the potter place the lump of clay and after working with it awhile and discovering a flaw in the material, breaking it up with a quick movement and starting all over again. He made it again another vessel as seemed good to the potter to make it.
This is a parable of God's dealings with us—always eliminating our flaws. Our only hope for anything better is in the faithful oversight and discipline of the Divine potter.
When we yield our lives to God all our powers come to maturity and the latent forces are brought to fullest exercise and we become vessels meet for the Master's use.
"There is in this yielding to God, an element of debt. 'Ought' is the perfect tense of the verb 'owe.' We are not our own and we have no right to withhold from Him that which He has created and redeemed. When Henry Ford was asked by the government on what terms he would give the government the use of his large assembly plant in Cambridge, Mass., he telegraphed immediately:
"No rent. Take it!" Thousands gave up all at the call of their country, even life itself. But as Christians we frequently make our plans for business and pleasure without the slightest reference to the will of Christ. The saddest words in the bible are: 'From that day many of His disciples went back and walked no more with Him."
"Yielding' our lives to Him is a very definite and simple step. We didn't grow into the gift of salvation but took it a free gift from His hand. The hand from which salvation came can only hold blessings for you.
"I give thee back the life I owe. That in nine ocean depths it's flow May richer fuler be."
When we yield ourselves to Him, He transforms our distirements and weaknesses by His grace and power dwelling in us. Take these simple steps:: What Christ claims I yield; what I yield; he takes; what He takes Heills; what He fills He uses. When Frank Higgins, the lumber-jack sky-pilot was leaving for the hospital, one of his boys, a converted prize fighter, with his arms around him, said: 'Frank, maybe you're going to need a piece of bone or some skin or blood. Just sent me a wire, if you do, and I'll fly to you. Anything I've got you can call on me for.' That is the spirit of yielding to money, and Kochn's bank account and investments are being investigated.

Mr. and Mrs. Dunbar and children, who have spent the past two weeks' vacation in motoring and camping along the way thru Humboldt-co, returned home last Monday evening.
Mrs. Calvin Varner had one grand surprise Tuesday evening when a machine drove up with occupants that she did not know. It was several minutes before she could think who they were. The lady was not recognized until Mrs. Varner turned the man around several times, when she finally yelled out, "Why that's Jake Mononger!" They were school "kids" 4 years ago, and had not seen each other for 16 years. They came from Elmo, Kan., and have decided to spend the winter in So. Calif. They came up to visit friends on the Stearns lease and are spending two days with Mrs. Varner on this lease. They have apartments in Long Beach for the present time. Mr. Moninger and wife came here a couple of weeks ago.
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Yates were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Delaney Sunday evening.
Among those from here that attended the dance in Brea Friday night were Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Delaney, Mr. and Mrs. Gregg Smith, Mr. and Mrs. McElheny, Miss Josephine McCone, Ruth Clegg and her cousin from Los Angeles, who came out to spend the night with her. All reported a good time.
Mr. I. F. Stone, while on his way to the Brea school Thursday met with a narrow scape. Mrs. Hollis also from this lease, was with him when it happened; the front wheels locked throwing them into two other cars on the road. They all got out without a scratch but three cars were badly damaged. Two of them were parked in front of the Oil Well Supply in Brea.
Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Hollis motorized to Los Angeles Saturday and spent the afternoon and evening with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Davis of that place.
