City Briefs LOCAL Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Stroup and children have returned from a week's outing at Newport. Mr. Stroup started back to work again today. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Elliott and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Tedrick were weekend visitors at Seal Beach. Mr. L. N. Gibbs of Los Angeles was the guest Monday of her son, F. N. Gibbs and family, Miss Ellen Gibbs, her granddaughter, returned with her that evening, to visit for a few days in Los Angeles. Mrs. H. A. Johnston was in Santa Ana yesterday attending the monthly Presbyterian missionary meeting for the women of Presbyterian churches of Southern California, as a representative of the Anaheim Presbyterian missionary society. Miss Hasel Hawley has returned to her mission in San Pedro after a very pleasant three weeks' vacation at her home here. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Hawley drove to San Pedro with her Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Quaston were Seal Beach visitors Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hile and their daughters, Mrs. Erika Vermeulen and Mrs. Danton Fritz, left Sunday morning for Sacramento to visit the state fair. Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Bley are rejoicing over the arrival of a brand new 9½ pound boy, at the Anaheim hospital Labor day. Messrs Ferry Smith and Dale Bell spent the holidays at Mt. Lowe. Mrs. V. J. Randall and Mrs. Raymond Randall were guests yesterday at the home of Mrs. C. C. Randall. Mrs. Martha Rusmussen and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. R.Jensen and son were at Little Bear for the holidays. Messrs James and Earle Requarth and Virgil Rush were in Long Beach Monday and went fishing. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pember, recently of the east are now domiciled in their new bungalow on Lincoln-ave. Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Pember, Miss Esther Pember and Mr. Jack Kemper spent Monday in Long Beach. Mr. and Mrs. William Libeck, Mr. and Mrs. Dresser and son and daughter, Vernon, and Catherine, and Mrs. Haupt and Mrs. Studenburg of St.Louis spent the week-end at Big Bear Lake. Miss Valle Pember and Mr. Lloyd Shrode were Glendale visitors yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Geo.Dunton and the latter's mother, Mrs.Florence Matthews, and sister, Miss Florence Matthews, spent the week-end at San Diego. On their return they stopped at La Jolla for an enjoyable dip in the surf. Lawrence Muckenthaler was back at his window in the First National Bank-bldg, today after a two weeks' motor trip to Yosemite, Mariposa. George Ehrie left this morning over the Santa Fe for Chicago. R.E.Clark left today over the Santa Fe for Denver. Henry Adams, and family, left today for a short vacation trip to Forest Home. Setockton, Sacramento, San Francisco and other points. Mr. and Mrs.Wm.Knott leave today for a two weeks' vacation to be spent at Redondo. Born—to Mr. and Mrs.Frank Bley, Monday, a boy weighing 9½ pounds. Born—to Mr. and Mrs.Denn Hasson, a girl weighing 8½ pounds. Miss Lillian Russell has as her guest Miss Willena Winfield of Pomona. Mr. and Mrs.K.Peek, Missena Willena Winfield and Lillian Russell and Mr.Ralph Goddard of Fullerton were visitors Monday at Balbon. Among the Anaheimers at Brookside Park Monday were Messrs and Messdames J.Stroup, Ed Eschneider, A.Nowatney, B.Knott and family,H.Noll,Wm.McCann,Wm.Wallace and daughter,Mrs.Wm.J.Lake and Mrs.F.Mauer. Miss Faye Kern left yesterday for San Jose, where she will visit with Mrs.Harriett Corwin Cook, a former Anaheim girl. Sangarre, went to San Diego Saturday and Sunday on a sightseeing trip. They report a fine time, and a big crowd of other sightseers in the southern city. Mr. and Mrs. O. N. Brower and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Clark went to Long Beach Saturday evening to enjoy the cooling ocean breezes. With Mr. H. T. Corley, Mr. and Mrs. Brower drove to Newport Sunday, remaining all day. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Beard were Newport visitors Sunday. Mr. Fred Lantenback returned to her home in Los Angeles Sunday. She has been at the home of her mother for the past eight months. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gates accompanied her to the city. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Liewellyn and daughters, Mrs. Ida De Vinnay, and Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Schmidt and daughter motored to Santa Ana Canyon Sunday and enjoyed the day. Mr. and Mrs. George Shaw and family returned today from Santa Barbara where they have been for several days. The F. W. Schmidt Orchestra played for a dance at Wilmington on a recent evening. Mrs.G.F.Huffman, of Santa Ana was the guest yesterday of her daughter, Mrs.Arthur Arnod May, of West Broadway. Mr., and Mrs.Squiers, Mr., and Mrs.Kidd and family, Mr., and Mrs.Rutledge and family and Reese Summerville, of Garden Grove, passed the day Sunday very pleasantly at Anaheim Leagh. Mr., and Mrs.Frank Borth, Mr., and Mrs.Ermest Zitzmann,the Misses Willbelmire Zitzmann,Prescilla Messiarand Leona Borth and Black, passed Sunday and Monday in Long Beach. Mrs.Stewart of Garden Grove was the guest of Mrs.Allen Crow for a short time recently.
