SPORTING EVENTS
ANOTHER BIG CARD FOR FRIDAY NIGHT
For Friday night's boxing card at the Sparke ranch, the Annieheim Athletic Club has arranged the following program:
Johnny McMannus of Palms and Ralph Lincoln of Los Angeles meet in the main event at 118 lbs. McManus is one of the fastest little fellows now boxing around Los Angeles and has a splendid record of wins to back him up. He has had four draws with Ad Rubidoux, the Riveraide sensation Lincoln his opponent, his some record, foot and when these bantams get together next Friday evening Anaheim fans are going to be treated to one or the best bouts that has ever been pulled off around this neck of the woods. Both these boys are fast and clever and always give plenty of snappy action. Both carry a good healthy wallop in either mit for little fellows.
The semi-windup gives promise of being another regular battle for big Jack Iman is again on the bill, meeting Ben Smith of Los Angeles. Smith has appeared here on one occasion when he boxed Billy Conley to a fast draw. He created a good impression with the local fight bugs by his style of work and he and big Jack should put up a whale of aserap.
The preliminaries look out of the ordinary for this week's show and a good run for their money is assured the big crowd expected this week.
That classy youngster, Johnny Adams, of San Bernardino, will tackle Ore Marks of La A and a brother to George Mario who is one of Vernon's stars in what should prove to be a sensational mixup while it lasts. Both are speedy, clever lads and do some snappy hitting. The return meeting Sport Chatter
Ad. Roubidoux will not appear here Friday night owing to his defeat last night at Vernon by Joe Murphy. Murphy won all the way from the Riverside phantom, and the consensus of opinion among fight followers is that the little fellow has gone stale. Both Murphy and Roubidoux have decisions over each other and it is probable that a return match will be fought in the near future.
After the Downey-Wilson flaco number two at Jersey City, Monday, we hereby declare Billy Conley, local middleweight as the title holder.
When Johnny Kilbane climbs into the ring with Danny Flush September 17, the featherweight title holder will undoubtedly have the first real battle he has had for years. Frusal is well known in the south, having appeared at Vernon many times, and a majority of critics are of the opinion that the title will change hands. Kilbane's last real fight was held at the old Vernon pavilion in 1913, when he and Jimmy Dundee fought a twenty-round draw.
HEFFRON ANAHEIM'S REMAINING CHANCE
The Mighty Johnson was knocked off last night in the first round of the elimination tournament at the Bathhouse alleys; Long Beach, leaving Jimmy Heffron Anaheim's sole remaining white hope. Heffron will bowl Sunday, Score last night: Johnson... 144 201 176
He created a good impression with the local light bugs by his style of work and he and big Jack should put up a whale of ascrap.
The preliminaries look out of the ordinary for this week's show and a good run for their money is assured the big crowd expected this week.
That classy youngster, Johnny Adams, of San Bernardino, will tackle Ors Malks of L.A. and a brother to George Marks who is one of Vernon's stars in what should prove to be a sensational mixup while it lasts. Both are speedy, clever lads and do some snappy hitting. The return meeting between Clarence Rubidoux, brother of the famous Ad., and Joe Chaney of Whittier is being looked forward to with interest by local boing fans. Clarence has a better chance to win this because he has trained hard for the bout and will set a fast pace all the way. Chancy sends word over from Whittier that there will be nothing to worry about, that he expects to not only beat Rubidoux, but is going to show the natives that he has a regular punch by stopping young Clarence in short order. It looks like it's going to be a regular one.
Kid Louie will again raise the curtain when he stacks up against Joe Carey, a good little boy from San Berdoo, and who is anxious to stop Louie's winning streak.
F. U. H. S. PLAYER WINNER IN TOURNEY
Evelyn Bielefeldt, well known high school tennis player, emerged successfully from the first round of the junior singles of the Los Angeles city championship at the L.A. Tennis Club yesterday by defeating Marjorie Vall of Pasadena. She will meet Miss Rose Kauffman in the semi-finals Friday.
In the women's open singles Miss Bielefeldt was defeated by Mrs. Marie McDonald in straight.
Johnny Weber who received a draw with Young Dudley here last Friday, won by a knockout in the eighth round of a scheduled 12 round battle with Frank Ross, at Phoenix Monday.

Four teams to represent Anaheim are being recruited for the first So. California bowling tourney ever staged in Anaheim. It will last a week or ten days, starting September 19. New wood will be available.
Rube Dossett of Long Beach and Mrs. Cy Taylor won the mixed doubles event at Venice last night. Old man Taylor is off his bowling stride and tired of the game, not appearing of late in the weekly events. However, Mrs. Taylor continues to demonstrate who has been winning for the Taylor team.
Anaheim was represented at Venice last night by Mr. and Mrs. Dugas and Miss Dugas and Frank Helborough.
MAY SUTTON BUNDY RETURNS TO COAST
Mrs. May Sutton Bundy who went East two months ago to help America defend her tennis honors against the invasion of Mille, Longlen, the French aspirant for our national championship, has left New York and will arrive here Saturday, after thrilling the whole cast with her sensational comeback.
Mrs. Bundy will remain the idol of the American tennis world just as she was when she reached the height of the game almost twenty years ago.

How Much Does It Take to Call in a Laundress?
Who hasn't met old women of years alone that age—any physician of physical and mental energy will it is such things as washing the dling of heavy clothes; stooping and then hot; wet feet; trotting in and cold outdoors.
And there's really no need for the family, at a cost that's most to call in a laundress.

BIG 1922 REGATTA AT COUNTY HARBOR
Newport harbor will be the scene of the big 1922 regatta of the Southern California Yachting association and Orange county will be host to nearly 100 outside pleasure boats during that event, which will last a week. The second week in August is the tentative date chosen for the yachtmen's gathering.
Decision to hold the second olg regatta for the new yachting association, the Newport harbor, San Diego, Santa Barbara, South Coast yacht clubs and the Los Angeles Motorboat club, was reached at a meeting of directors, held at the Newport harbor club. This year's regatta, the first held, was staged at Santa Barbara and the showing made there by the Newport boats was a large factor in bringing the next regatta to Oranges county.
The county development work in Newport harbor channels will be completed early next year, so that the harbor will be in shape to accommodate the dozens of visiting craft expected next August. However, additional mooring ground will be needed, which may be done jointly by the city of Newport Beach and the county. The city has plans for making a large mooring ground adjoining the yacht club house at East Newport, and it is hoped by the harbor adherents that the supervisors will order additional dredging done between the city and county channels near Bay Island to provide an adequate turning basin and additional moorings for the visiting boats.

In eight years accurately compiled statistics have proven that the average price paid to Valencia orange growers of this county has been $2.78½ per box. In accepting these figures as a working basis I am in a position to show you a 20.4 acre orange grove situated in the city limits, that will pay a not income of 22 per cent on price asked. This grove containing 1744 trees is acknowledged to be the best in Orange county, embracing the finest soil, extra large trees suggesting a most healthful state, and a most prolific setting for next year. On but 10 acres of this grove there is at the present time an estimated crop conservatively placed at over 6000 packed boxes. No one will refute my statement when I say that on no other grove will you see manifested the intelligent care and attention as has been accorded this particular acreage. In conjunction with its wonderful value as an orange grove consider carefully its equally valuable location, right here in Anaheim a few minutes from the center, frontage on three streets and only a short distance from the new park. Another feature, one of the streets on which this grove faces will, when paved, be the direct road to Los Angeles. Think what this will mean. This is absolutely the best proposition ever offered in Anaheim, and at the price asked it has an immediate resale value or by holding as an investment will prove to be most lucrative. It will pay you to consider this grove before purchasing elsewhere. You can't afford to permit this opportunity to escape.
