CORD ACTIVITY
ABOUT LONG BEACH
Long Beach
long Beach, California's newest
finished oil field, is now the
new of tremendous activity. The
durable work of the Shell company
California in getting a producing
oil is absolutely new territory in
with three months is an example
of what can be expected of the
sw field. Already development
work was taken some rapid strides,
twenty-five companies are on the
oil and a dozen derricks are up.
The San Martenas Oil Co. was the first concern to get started on Signal Hill following the bringing in of the Shell well. At 300 feet the San Martenas set stove pipe, the drilling will go right ahead.
The Standard Oil Co.'s Bixby No. 1 is now drilling at 4100 feet. At this depth the drilling is going nicely, but indications are not very strong for oil.
The Shell Company has cleaned out Alametas No. 1, the producer, and while no accurate figures on the production are yet available predictions are good for an 800 or 1000 barrel well. The rig for No. 2 is up. On the Nesa property the Shell has a rig, Wilbur No. 1 is being graded. The Shell has plans for other wells that will be announced later.
The Sandberg Petroleum Co. studded in and started drilling last Saturday. At 300 feet stove pipe casing was set and drilling is to go right ahead.
The following oil companies have rigs on Signal Hill:
The Crest Oil Co.; the Coast States Oil Co.; East Long Beach; Huntington National; Oceanic; and Signal Hill and Gas Co., also the Guaranty Oil Co.
The following companies are rigging up and getting ready to drill: The Huntington National; E. J. Miley and the Signal Hill Syndicate.
The following oil companies have the lumber on the ground: The Great Western Petroleum Co., Long Beach Consolidated, Sure Shot, and the National Crude Oil Corporation.
The following companies have recently acquired holdings: Anchor Oil Co., Augur and Trebell Oil Co., Huntington Pacific, Huntington Signal, Walker-Western, and the General Petroleum.

Don't Buy a Battery Without Knowing Inside
"I wonder how many motorists stop to consider that batteries are different on the inside," said West Brox managers of the Auto Electric Maintenance Co., local Vesta service station.
"To those not familiar with battery construction one battery looks pretty much like another, especially on the outside."
"But it is what is in the battery that counts in service. It is the quality and kind of plates and separators and how well they are designed to do the work required of them that really makes a battery worth while."
"Take for example Vesta, impregnated mats, Vesta Poro hard plates, Vesta Insolators and Titanium—these are four Vesta patented features that make the Vesta different on the inside. These patented differences are responsible for the high reputation for service which esta batteries have been rendering."
"Every motorist when buying a battery of any make should investigate thoroughly and be sure he knows just what is inside the box he is buying."
