SANTA ANA CANNERY STARTS NEXT WEEK The one big cannery in the state that has cleaned up its pack of last season, the plant of Taylor's, Inc., will start next week on its usual season operation. In canning and preserving fruits for consumers who have already placed their orders. The plant will start with about 50 employees, the first run being on cherries. It is believed that by the time the pack on cherries is completed, apricots will be ready, with other fruits following that will keep the plant in full operation for the season. Fred Taylor has just returned from a tour through the northern part of the state, where he contracted for cherries, peaches and berries to be put up by the local plant. Contrary to expectation, Taylor found an abundance of fruit in the north, the crops being far from short. He declares that there is more fruit than the canneries will handle this season, and that not more than ten per cent of the larger canneries of the state will operate this season. The condition is due to a surplus of stock left over from last season, he says. All the canneries now find themselves with 1920 stocks more or less undisposed of. If It's from Witman's, It's Good! The Village Gossip A curious and strangely silent crowd gathered at the Santa Ana city hall. City Marshal Samuel Jernigan made his way through the doorway leading a manacled prisoner. Manacles? Ay, farsooch! A strange, subdued roar filled the air. Of what dreadful crime was the prisoner guilty? Was it porchance the noted Gardner captured through the splendid efforts of the Santa Ana sleuths? Listen! Quoth City Marshal Jernigan unto the city recorder. Murray children are all on the road to recovery now. They have all had quite a siege with the measles. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Loitz, entertained several machine loads of company on Sunday.
