SAYS ENGLAND MUST DROP JAP ALLIANCE
LONDON, June 17.—Commander Carlyon Bellaires, coalition unionist member of parliament, declared in the house of commons this afternoon that Great Britain should not renew the treaty of alliance with Japan.
Commander Bellaires attacked the treaty, saving that he believed that the British nation, after enduring the shock of the great war, is averse to making an alliance with a poor pursuing military ambitions.
The alliance, Commander Bellaires that, would help the Japanese military party instead of the liberals.
Japan's navy personnel, it was pointed out, is now 76,000 men, and exceeds the personnel of the German navy when the World War broke upon the world in 1914.
Various and other speakers demanded that any renewal of the treaty should be made upon a basis satisfactory to the United States and China.

Mrs. Herbert Sullivan, the retiring president of the local Parent-Teachers association, and Mrs. S. L. Moore, the newly elected president of the same body, attended the meeting of the district executive board at Birch Park in Santa Ana on Saturday of last week. There was a delightful luncheon at the noon hour and a very profitable meeting was had.
Mrs. Sullivan was appointed by the district president, Mrs. Earl Morris, to the chairmanship of the extension department committee, this being the first office to be held by anyone from Placentia.
Nearly a dozen young men and women from Placentia were among the graduates of the class of "21 at the Fullerton Union school. They are a splendid representation from this district and made a wonderful showing in their work during this life there. They are as follows: William R. Sanchez, Ruth Knox Dowling, Albert J. Yorba, Mary Elizabeth Healey, Geraldine Kraemer, Evelyn Lemke, Mildred Virginia McLellan, Ruth Marguerite Ferguson, William Talbot Blelefeldt, Luck G. Kraemer.
Mrs. A. L. Dennis of Los Angeles gave a most delightful address before the adult bible class and their friends at the club house Wednesday evening, the subject being "The Typical Teachings of the Robes of the High Priests." Music was furnished for the evening by solos by Miss Ruth Howerton and Mr. Lem Green, and two wonderfully fine violin solos by Mr. Will Key. The contest for the most representatives of the two sides chosen to get a good attendance was won by the Red under the leadership of Mrs. Smith.

PLAN TO ADVERTISE COUNTY AT CHICAGO
A program of advertising, which will put Orange-co on the map in Chicago as it has never been before, is being developed by the Santa Ana Really board in connection with its representation at the national convention of real estate dealers in Chicago July 12-15.
The scheme becomes larger and more important as the realtors and delegates delve into the possibility of the occasion for "putting Santa Ana over big" before 10,000 realtors and thousands of residents of Chicago.
Execution of the plans will depend upon securing a fund sufficient to back up the delegates in the necessary work after they get on the ground.
The delegates are Linn L. Shaw, Everett A. White and F. C. Cope. The men are going at their own expense.
They can go there merely as delegates and get the benefit of the sessions of the convention, or they can go there and devote a great deal of their energy to boosting.
They estimate that they will need $2000 to make their plans effective.
It is the ambition of the delegates to secure 200 or more boxes of oranges, if not a carload, for distribution at Chicago. They desire to establish headquarters in one of the best hotels of the city and thrud advertising attract hundreds of persons to the headquarters for personal talks on Santa Ana and distribution of literature.
They believe that with the cooperation of George Marcy, owner of a big ranch property in the Lemon Heights district, that they can arrange for a Santa Ana day at one of the big league ball games, with advertisements inserted in the papers that the Santa Ana delegates will give oranges away at the ball game.
A megaphone artist, at the grounds, will announce at the proper time that delegates to the national convention sent by the reality board of Santa Ana, the home of Sam Dungan, Gavvy Cravath and Walter Johnson, three stars in present and past baseball history, are present to distribute golden fruit grown in that vicinity.
ARREST GIRLS AMID FIRE IN L. A HOTEL
LOS ANGELES, June 17.—Risking their lives in fighting through flames and smoke in a third floor room in a hotel near Fifth street and Broadway early today, Detectives Parsons and Vail of the police flying squadron and Patrolman Harry Miller saved from death two young women and two sailors who were said to have occupied a suite of rooms for alleged immoral purposes.
After being rescued from the blazing hotel the men and women were arrested.
Two score of guests in the hotel routed by the flames from their beds and fled, scantily clad, to the street.
The women arrested gave the names of Thelma LaVerne, 21, and Vivien Kapland, 21. The former was charged with social vagrancy, while the Kapland girl was booked on suspicion of robbery on the complaint of E. D. Ward, a sailor of the U.S. S. Vestal, who alleged the young woman robbed him of $185 May 21 at all East Sixth-st hotel.
The men arrested gave the names of C. H. Aldrich, 29, and H. P. Sturm, 25.
GOV'T. VICTORIOUS IN WALL-ST LEAK CASE
WASHINGTON, June 17.—The government today won a notable victory in its efforts to protect the invloability of the secrets of the United States supreme court.
Sitting in the district supreme court Justice Siddons dismissed the demurrers that been filed to the indictment of Ashton F. Embrey, E. Millard Mayer, Barnett E. Moses and J. Harwood Graves and ordered that the cases go to trial on their merits. The four men were indicted for surreptiously obtaining information of a supreme court decision and using the information thus obtained in Wall Street speculation. The case is widely known as the "Wall street leak."

A fund of about $400 has been raised so far and efforts are being continued by a committee of the reality board to increase the amount to proportions that will make it possible to put the plans over.
POOR CONTRIBUTE TO WEALTHIEST BRIDE
CHICAGO, June 17.—The home of the world's richest bride was banked today with simple little presents from poor cripples she had befriended.
Miss Lolita Armour, daughter of J. Ogden Armour, multi-millionaire packer, is to be married tomorrow to John J. Mitchell, junior.
Miss Armour, herself once a cripple and miraculously saved by an operation, has devoted her life in rehabilitating others.
Altho she can afford the most luxurious wedding money could provide, the ceremony is to be very simple.
"Extravagance is a sin," she said. "I want my wedding to be a lucky one, therefore, I will not start out by wasting."
Miss Armour's wedding gown is a simple little thing of white velvet and quite inexpensive. She is not going to wear any jewels at the ceremony.
EXPECT ARRESTS IN U.S. GUN SEIZURE
NEW YORK, June 17.—Three arrests were expected today as the result of the seizure of 500 machine guns on the Cosmopolitan freighter Eastside, at Hoboken, which, it is believed, were consigned to the Sinn Fein in Ireland.
It was learned that federal warrants were issued and were to be served yesterday, but for some unexplained reason action was postponed.
Despite the strong guard of Hoboken policemen and federal custom agents which has been watching the war supplies since they were taken from the Eastside, more than 100 of the guns were reported to have disappeared today.
