Saturday, May 28, 1921. City News Dr. A. Hank has moved from the Central Hotel to a grandiose. Mr. and Mrs. George Fells of Oypre's are moving to Los Angeles. H. P. Tobin and family have gone to Big Bear to spend the week and. Mr. Howard Potter of the Hamel Mule Store is in Los Angeles today on a business trip. Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Head and daughter Gladys are spending the week end at Venice, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Hartung. C. C. Phillips and Mr. and Mr., Earl Parla have gone to Santa Barbara over the week end. Miss Bertha Schmidt of Chime will spend the week end with Mr. and Mrs. William H. Chambers. Mr. and Mrs. William Dawes who have been residing at 172 N. Palm-st. have moved to 607 Zeyn-st. Mr. J. L. Stephend and little son Edward were in Los Angeles for a few days this week visiting friends. Mrs. Charlie Fay accompanied by her daughter Miss Sarah Pay, is in Los Angeles on a business trip today. Mrs. Mae Ever of Venice, spent Thursday with her daughter, Mrs. Marguerite E. Thomas of the Colonels Apis. Mrs. A. W. Swain of Whittier and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Strathmore are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Chambers, $17 N. Emily-st. Dr. and Mrs. J. P. Humphrey and daughter Bethel, of Glendora, are guests today at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy MacDonald. Mr. Dell Swiggle, who has spent over a year in Mexico at Tampico, arrived home this week. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L Swingle, $24 S. Palm-st. Jess Koena and Miss Norma Meckes of Anaheim, and the Misses Ethel and Emma Koonz and William Koonz of Santa Fe Springs will motor to Cajon pass, and Hesperia tomorrow. Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Falconer, 233 Alberta-st, had as guest for dinner on Friday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Arland Purrington and their daughter, Miss Arline Purrington of Santa Ana. Pearl Filler, with Miss Gladys York of U. S. O., Pharmaoy, will spend the day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Henry. Operation Successful Friend* of L. K. Roberts will be glad to hear of the successful operation he had performed at the Santa Ana hospital Monday, Roberts is doing nicely. Mrs. Frank McConnell spent Tuesday and Wednesday with her sister in Long Beach. H. A, Lake and family and Mrs. Frank McConnell motored to Los Angeles Sunday. George Cook and family and Mrs. Frank McConnell motored to Los Angeles Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Doeller and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Kelley and family and Mrs. Elizabeth Fairchilds motored to Sunset Beach Tuesday night and went grunion fishing. Mrs. Marguerite E. Thomas of the Colonial Apta, has for her guests this week Mr. and Mrs. Potter and baby of Hoquiam, Wash. Mr. Potter is a well-known singer. Mr. and Mrs. Potter expect to locate here as soon as suitable home can be procured. MISS PROBEST HOSTESS Little Miss Blenda Probst was the charming hostess yesterday afternoon when she entertained a group of her little friends with a garden party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Probst, 115 W. Adela-st. Miss Blenda will celebrate her birthday in July, but at that time so many of her little friends will be away for the summer that she decided to give the party at this time, which will take the place of the regular birthday party. E. church was entertained at the home of the class teacher, Mrs. George Reyburn, Tuesday evening. The regular business session was held followed by the travel study. The travelogue embraced that portion of the state between San Francisco and Sacramento and vicinity. The remainder of the evening was spent by playing games and enjoying music. Delicious refreshments of fruitade and cookies were served by the hostess. The Ladies' Aid Society of the M. E. church met at the home of Mrs. George Reyburn Wednesday afternoon. The regular business meeting was held with the remainder of the afternoon spent in sowing. The ladies are preparing for a bazaar to be held soon. There was a good attendance. Foreign Missionary The Foreign Missionary society of the M. E. church will meet at the home of Mrs. John Sandman, next Wednesday afternoon, June I. All ladies interested are invited. The Tuesday afternoon club was entertained at the home of Mrs. J. O. Arkley, Tuesday afternoon. THE ORANGE COUNTY PLAIN DEALER, ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Peralta Items PERALTA, May 25—Mrs. F. Harrison was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Terry of Orange, at a recital given by the U. S. C. College of Oratory, Tuesday evening. The program consisted of beautiful readings by three of the senior girls, Miss Mable Terry, talented daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terry, being one of the three. Mr. and Mrs. Dykes of Orange are spending a few days with their daughter, Mrs. Korns. Mr. and Mrs. V. Yerba and family spent Tuesday evening at the Orange show in Anaheim. Mrs. H. Thornton gave a surprise party Tuesday evening for her little nephew, Troy Johnson, it being his eighth birthday. White carnations were tastefully used in the living room and Cecil Brunson in the dining room. The evening was pleasantly spent with games and jolly conversation. Refreshments were served to the little boys, an important feature being the huge birthday cake which was pretty decorated. Ten little boys with their parents enjoyed Mrs. Thornton's hospitality. Mr. and Mrs. Carter and children spent Saturday in Los Angeles on business, going later to Ocean Park to visit Carter's parents over Sunday. Charles Nelson has been on the sick list this week but reports he is improving. The guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. Harrison have returned home to King City, Monterey. Mr. and Mrs. Bardwell and daughter Ruth spent Sunday in Long Beach. Miss Ruth Leister of Richfield, spent Sunday with the Misses Rowens and Sophia Yorba. The party motored to Long Beach and enjoyed the afternoon in the plunge. Mr. and Mrs. Cornellus and family attended the Farm Bureau picnic recently at Orange-Co. park. Mr. and Mrs. Pred Mott and children with their guest, Mrs. M. Harris of Long Beach, enjoyed Sunday at Trabuco canyon. PETITION AGAINST REMOVAL OF MOTOR PUENA PARK, May 25, (Spl.)—The Southern Pacific is planning to take off the motor train and discontinue passenger service between here and Los Angeles. If this is done we will only have one mail a day, which is by the afternoon freight. Petitions against this action are in the hands of Hattie A. Allen and Dr. D.W.Hanson. If you have not signed one of these petitions, do so at once so they can be forwarded as soon as possible. Mr. Dick Dane was the dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Robeson on Thursday evening. The school children are busy preparing a program for the last day of school. Mr. and Mrs. R. C.Cauthon and daughter visited in Los Angeles and Glendale on Thursday. Mr. Nathan Murry of Shannon, Ill., is visiting at the home of his uncle, Dr. D.W.Hasson. The doctor had left Illinois about 50 years ago and had never seen his young nephew before.
