Phone 263 MODERN LITERATURE NOT WORTH WHILE A lecture on the kind of literature so popular nowadays was delivered by Father D. J. Cronin of Lincoln, Nebr., at the Ellison-White Chautauqua at Fullerton Tuesday afternoon, in which he gave it a black eye, declaring it is both low taste and degrading. A novel heroine is impossible in real life and so is a novel hero of the kind which the "popular" magazines are now publishing, and more than that, she is unladylike and debasing, and not at all a type to be represented to the American girl as a heroine.
