GARDEN GROVE CLASS HAS CONSTITUTION
GARDEN GROVE Feb 7—The Loyal Helpers’ class of the M.E. church held their regular class meeting at the parsonage last Tuesday evening. After transacting business and voting on a new constitution, a delightful program was rendered. This also being the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. William Morrill, the house was beautifully decorated to suit the occasion with silver hearts, pink roses and similac. Enjoyable songs were rendered by Mrs. Irvine German and Mrs. Emmett Smith accompanied on the piano by Mrs. O.H. Fulwider. Mr. Charles Holt presented Mr. and Mrs. Morrill with a lovely set of silver knives and forks from the Sunday school class. Mr. Morrill responded with an appropriate speech and a very sociable evening followed. A large wedding cake, decorated with a tiny bride and groom, was cut by Mrs. Morrill each guest was given as piece to take home and dream on. Refreshments of heart-shaped cookies and orange fruitade were served. A very pleasant evening was passed, and the class joined in wishing Mr. and Mrs. Morrill many happy returns of the day.
A program of unusual interest was given under the auspices of the Parent-Teachers’ Assn, at the Garden Grove school house Wednesday evening. The Misses Devon of this community, recently of Toronto, Canada, furnished the music for the occasion. This was certainly a rare treat, Dr. Robinson, identified with the Anaheim clinic, who has made a life study of child welfare, gave a most interesting paper on "Child Hygiene." Mr. Woodhouse and Miss Devon were the readers on the program, delighting the audience with several selections. Mrs. Mangusson, Mrs. Kelsey, Mrs. Magill, Mrs. Day and Mrs. Bassan served refreshments at the close of the program, and a social time was also enjoyed. The P.T.T.A hopes to give a program one evening each month and welcomes anyone who may be interested.
The members of the Tuesday Afternoon club entertained their husbands at a New Year’s party Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs.J.V.McConnell. The evening passed delightfully at games, prizes being awarded Mrs.J.A.Knapp, Mrs.C.B.Scott.W.E.Hennlon and J.C.Mitchell. A sumptuous luncheon was enjoyed at a late hour.
The Chamber of Coommerce will hold a banquet and get-together meeting at the Garden Grove hotel on the regular meeting night. Monday,Feb 14. A good speaker will be secured for the occasion and a short musical program is to be given.
Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Smith entertained the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.William Morrill, and Mr. and Mrs.George Reyburn at dinner Tuesday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs.Morrill’s twenty-fifth wedding anniversary.
