CYPRESS FARMERS TURNING TO BEETS CYPRESS, Feb. 21.—Special— There is much activity in all lines of farming these days. Judging from the amount of seed unloaded at the station every day, this is to be the banner season for the sugar beet. Last year it was beans, but the present bean market has discouraged the bean grower into other lines. There will be a large acreage of sweet pototatoes as well as Irish staple. Bradley, Scounce & Co. are planting the Clothier farm to sugar beets. RAKES HOES GARDEN SPADES SHOVELS COMBINATION SEED DRILL AND HAND CULTIVATORS ROLLER SKATES All sizes, per pair $2.25 A. In the old days when the people met at Centralla for a good time, there was a crowd. Anaheim, Norwalk, Artesia, Buena Park and all the country in between would be represented. The old dances could be pulled off to the rasping of a fiddle and a piano, now there must be a big drum and jingly bells, to put life in the heal and toe. We couldn't do the Beach Walk or any of the late fangled steps, but we sure had a good time in our ignorance. Mr. and Mrs. S. I Iller, who have been spending several weeks with Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Robinson, will return to their hoem in Indiana the latter part of the week. The Millers have fallen in love with our climate and may return to make this their home. How long it will last no one seems to know but it is horrible while it does last. Batis, the well known imitator, has not frightened anyone this week. The Love Sick Club did not hold their regular meeting last Saturday, iness, the officers for the coming year were elected, this being the last meet- ing for ethe old year. At the close of the business meeting the hostess served daily refreshments. The theme for Sunday evening at the Methodist church by Rev. Fisher will be "The Lame Shall Take the Prey." Mrs. C. E. JUST AS GOOD AS THOSE MOTHER MAKE Anaheim, Cal., Feb. 20, 1919. Dear Mother: The package of pies, Cakes and cookies you sent me were sure fine and we all enjoyed them, but I don't believe I am reflecting upon your ability to bake such goodies when I tell you that we can buy the same articles here from the White Lily Bakery, 305 West Center street, and really they are just as good as those you bake. Then you know they specialize on coffee cake and pastries on Saturday and the general public is beginning to appreciate their good things to eat. The modern bakery convenences the White Lily Bakery has at its disposal make this possible. Also we always ask our grocer for White Lily Love. Bread, the cheapest because it's the best. JIM. Adv.
