Bnena Park BUENA PARK, Feb. 10 (Special) —The 50th anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Reason Lovitt, and the 13th wedding anniversary of their daughter, Nellie, to Mr. William Forber, was celebrated at the home of the latter, southwest of the park, on Friday, Feb. 7th. Mr. and Mrs. Lovitt were married in Ohio, and came to California 27 years ago. Mr. Lovitt is a civil war veteran and Mrs. Lovitt a Daughter of Veteran Both families are widely and favorably known in this part of Orange co. The parlor and dining room were beautifully decorated in appropriate colors of gold and white. In the center of the table was a large golden cake, decorated with 50 white tapers, while at each end of the table were perimids of golden oranges, carrying out the color scheme. After a bonifitful repast of oysters, roast turkey and the things that go with it, the guests adjourned to the parlors and the time was passed in listening to old and new stories and admiring the lovely gifts, among which were two large leather rockers for the children, a beautiful green and gold bon-bon dish, a beautiful amythist brooch for Mrs. Lovitt and a stick-pin containing the same stone for Mr. Lovitt. A charming basket of daffodils and violets, long stemmed and fragrant, added their sweetness to the scene. A perfect, a gathering most delightful, of friends and relatives, will remain a pleasing memory to all who were present. The guests included besides the family were Mrs. Laura Beal, of Burk's Nebr., Mrs. Eva L. Beaton, of Santa Ana; Dr. and Mrs. D. W. Hasson and Mrs. McCarthy, of Buena Park. All the children and their families and grandchildren were present. The mum social, which took place Friday evening under the auspices of the L. M. A. S., was a grand success. A large crowd of young and old were present and it was not long a "mum" party. The delightful program was enjoyed by all, especially when the Buena Park jazz band appeared and favored the crowd with several choice selections. After the program the evening was spent in games and merriment and dainty refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Little motored to Pasadena Sunday and visited at the home of Mrs. Moore. Mrs. F. R. Marsh, of Glendale, is the guest of Mrs. D. W. Hasson for a few days. Mrs. Marsh formerly lived in the park and has many friends here. Mr. and Mrs. N. B. McDowell, with friends from Pasadena, motored to Santa Paula for over Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Abernethy, of Spokane, Wash., are the guests of their daughter, Mrs. A. E. Smothers, this week. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Beech and daughter, Dorothy, visited at the home of R. T. Beech Sunday. Private Albert Kotniq, who has received his honorable discharge, is spending the week at the home of R. T. M. church will hold an all-day meeting Thursday in the church rooms. There will be special work. The husbands are invited for luncheon: The Boy Scouts will meet Friday at the M. E. church, under the direction of Rev. J. E. Fisher. The boys are much enthused over scout work, and the class has grown to such a number that a larger room is needed. VALENTINE PARTY In honor of Mrs. Elmo Calkhs, of McFarland, who is spending some time with her sister Mrs. J. A. Eymann, of West-st., Miss Bertha Weber entertained last evening with a valentine party and luncheon. The parlor was decorated with garlands of ferns, cut roses and potted ferns intermingled with Old Dan Cupid and his hearts and darts. The evening was spent with music, games and social chat until 11 p.m. when the guests were led to the dining room which was tastefully intertwined with smilax. The centerpiece consisted of a miniature fishing pond from which cupids from each cover fished for hearts among the rocks by dim candle light. The Valentine scheme was carried throughout the entire evening. Those present were the guest of honor, Mrs. Elmo Calkhs, and daughter, Margey Lou; Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Eymann, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Schumacher, J. E. Schumacher; Nick Theodore, Mrs. B. F. Schneller, Max Schumacher and daughter, Maxine, of Los Angeleses, besides the hostess and her sisters, Mary, Agnes; Helen, Marcella and brother, Lawrence. A. Johnston, E.Broadway, on Friday afternoon. There was a large attendance and a most enjoyable time spent. After the serving of delicious refreshments the offering was counted and it was found to be $45. In honor of the 70th birthday anniversary of Mrs. L. A. Baxter, a Dutch pot dinner was given yesterday at her home. BRUCE IN AUTO WAR? Whether a truce will develop in the war of the State Auto Trades Association and the Auto Club of Southern California, will probably be determined within the next week or so. P. S. Avery, a special representative of the club, has been in the county, conferring with officials of the Automobile Trades Association. Orange county with reference to the situation that has developed in orange county and throughout the state, by action of the associations withdrawing their support from the auto club. Avery asked for a special meeting of the tradesmen so that the situation could be discussed and the Auto Club given opportunity to explain its position. Avery has been asked to face his request in writing and it will be forwarded to the secretary of the state organization for action. It is considered by officers of the local trades association that the matter is on which the state association should take action and not the council organization. The Auto Club of Southern California is continuing with its signing work in Orange county. Two big trucks of the club's corps of cars have been busily engaged and will continue for another week or ten days erecting new signs and replacing those which have been destroyed or mutilated. NICHOLAS DIES Pete Nicholas, large rancher of Fullerton, and brother-in-law of Herman Stern of this city, passed away at his home in Fullerton at a late hour this afternoon from complications following influenza.
