The local Joint Office of the Cunard, Anchor and Anchor-Donaldson Lines has just received a telegram from the head offices of the Companies in the United States at New York to the effect that arrangements have been made with Mr. K. Dol, Manager of the Toyo Kisen Kaisha Line in the United States with headquarters at San Francisco, for the Joint Offices of the Cunard, Anchor and Anchor-Donaldson Lines in the United States and at Winnipeg and Vancouver, to represent the Toyo Kisen Kaisha Line, with the exception of our San Francisco and New York Offices where the Japanese Company has its own offices established. The Offices of our Companies concerned are at Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburg, Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Seattle, Baltimore, Washington, Winnipeg and Vancouver. This arrangement follows upon one recently announced to the effect that the Cunard Line had taken over the passenger representation of the Toyo Kisen Kaisha in Great Britain, which has proved of mutual advantage.
A cable has just reached us that the Cunarder "Carmania," one of the larger steamers of the Cunard Fleet, which has been in government service as a transport, has left Liverpool for New York, and is the first Canarder to come out with the usual well known Cunard red funnels. For the period of the war the "Carmania" has been painted a battle-ship gray, but she now resumes her peace garb.
