CIRCUS CLOWNS? — Surrounding the "big top" promoter, Jim Cunningham, general chairman of the great annual indoor Al Malaikah Shrine Circus, are some of his Shriner friends from the Woodland Hills Shrine Club "Clown Unit". DIVIDEND ANNOUNCED A regular quarterly dividend of fifty cents a share on Bank of America National Trust and Savings Association capital stock was declared by the bank's board of directors meeting in Los Angeles. The dividend, which is at the annual rate of $2 per share, is payable May 29 to shareholders of record May 1. UCLA Alumni Scholarships Awarded Area Students Twelve high school seniors who will enter UCLA in September have been awarded Alumni Association scholarships, J. S. Baker, Fullerton-Norwalk district scholarship chairman, announced today. Four-year Regent's Scholarship Awards were granted to Mary H. Kretzers of Buena Park High School and Susan Tamura of Savanna High School, Anaheim. Norwalk district scholarship chairman, announced today. Four-year Regent's Scholarship Awards were granted to Mary H. Harlan Gary Fick, Stephen Wayne Fitch, and Marilyn Kay Reed, also of Savanna High School, received one year scholarships. E. Nina Valentin of Norwalk High School was awarded the prized $1,000 Gold Shield Scholarship. Frodrick P. Aguirre of Valencia High School, Placentia was a $500 award winner. Glenne James Bradley of La Mirada High School received the Red Sanders Football Scholarship. Sharon Rae Jarvis and James Ralph Drysdale of Bellflower High School, Artesia, and Kenneth Lloyd Wilson of Magnolia High School, Anaheim, also received one year UCLA Alumni Association Scholarships. The scholarships were given for outstanding grades, leader ship, participation in activities promise and need. They are for the freshman year on the West wood campus. Selection was made by a committee of local UCLA alumni from applications submitted to the University. UCLA's alumni this year awarded 150 scholarships totaling $40,000 to entering freshmen through California. The amount of award money available to the local committee was based on the number of eligible applications submitted by high school seniors in the district. year after year after year... The evening will be dedicated to Senior Citizens, but all ages are invited. Families and groups whose members include elder lads and lassies are urged to attend. Festivities will begin at 8 p.m. in the auditorium of the Loara Elementary School, located at Loara and Broadway Sts. in Anaheim (1 block East of Euclid). No admission will be charged but a voluntary contribution will be taken to defray expenses. The Fun Fest will feature the well known "Melolarks", Childrens Chorus and a good old fashion Community sing. Birthday kids will be honored and the Youngster of the Month presented. The Talent Quest will star some of Orange County's finest young performers in a variety of singing, dancing, instrumental and novelty acts. C. Horn, department inspector of patriarch militant, and Henry A. Mang, past grand patriarch of the grand encampment, Adeline Provino, noble grand, presided. During the business session plans were made to hold Memorial Services for the deceased members for the past year, jointly with Anaheim Lodge No. 199, I.O.O.F., Sunday, June 14 at Anaheim Cemetery. These services will be held in conjunction with all Rebekahs and Odd Fellows under direction of a Proclamation received from C. Everrett Murphy, sovereign grand master. Lissie Lee McKen, vice grand, received on behalf of the lodge, a Certificate of Appreciation from the Orange County Tuberculosis & Health Association for the work contributed by the Rebekahs. Monetary donations were sent to the Rebekahs in the disaster area of Crescent City and Alaska by the local lodge. The week of May 17 thru 22 the Grand Lodge and Rebekah Assembly of California will convene in Sacramento. The delegates who will represent Lois Rebekah Lodge are Hazel Hawley, Lizzie Knight, Susan Benbrooks, Vivian Waite, Margaret Myers and Barbara Myers, who will be leaving Anaheim on May 16. The banquet room and lodge hall were gay with the many bouquets of spring flowers donated by the various members. The Noble Grand appointed Mabel Ives and Lizzie Knight as new additions to the list of Pro-Tem Officers. Audrey Royer and Della Reynolds were appointed on the visiting committee for the next meeting, May 15. OLYMPIC FILM TO BE WORLD'S FAIR FEATURE The motion picture "Hold High the Torch", produced by the American Dairy Association in cooperation with the U.S. Olympic Committee, will be shown during the entire run of the New York World's Fair, as part of the RCA exhibit. A closed circuit TV showing, on more than 100 color sets in various locations at the World's Fair, will include showings of this film, based upon the 1900 Squaw Valley Winter Olympics, and other Olympic events.
