Children Are Offered Free Musical Treat
The Orange County Philharmonic Society is offering to the children of Orange County a musical "treet" with the performance by the full Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra of three concerts in Orange Coast College Auditorium on Saturday, February 1st. The three identical Symphonies for Youth have been scheduled for 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon, in order to accommodate children from the Santa Ana and Laguna Beach areas, as well as from Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and Huntington Beach. Henry Lewis, regular conductor of youth concerts for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, will conduct.
The 10 a.m. concert is specifically for the children from Costa Mesa schools; the 11 a.m. performance is for the Newport Beach young people; and the noon performance is especially for the children of the Santa Ana, Orange, Tustin, Laguna Beach, San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente and Dana Point communities.
Mrs. Sydney Gaynor Symphony nies for Youth Chairman emphasizes that the Orange County Philharmonic Society is launching its seventh season of free concerts for the young people of Orange County. Most tickets will be distributed by Music Supervisors in the schools, where the children will have been given an opportunity to learn about the music to be played.
Tickets also are available, free of charge, at the Orange County Philharmonic Society Office in Newport Beach.

Members of the Young Ladies Institute, No. 109 of Anaheim held the monthly Master Point game at the Anaheim Elk Lodge, Thursday, Jan. 9 with Anthony Lipsky directing.
Mrs. Arthur Eiedler and Mrs. Eleanor Sutherland won the North - South Master Points with Charles Elliott and Richard Neal and Mrs. Harry Carpenter and Gordon Sheard for second and third places. Esker Hester and Gil Ortiz placed fourth.
East - West Master Points were awarded to Mrs. Eugene Oberly and Norman Adair. Runners-up were Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Crozier, second; Mrs. Bruce Cusack and Benjamin McLeod, third; Mrs. Marty Woods and Robert Mixer, fourth.
Village Club Installs Five During Dinner
The Women's Club of the Hawaiian Village Recreation Club held its installation dinner last month.
New officers are: Lolly Ivey, president; Vivian Wollenweber, 1st vice president; Rose Marie Fisher, 2nd vice president; Shirley Gilmore, treasurer; and Beth Howard, secretary.
Special recognition corsages were awarded for outstanding work during the past year to: Shirley Gilmore, hospitality; Vivian Wollenweber, arranging the Orange County Children's Hospital annual Card Party Benefit, and Vanny Burton for producing the June Fashion Show.
A get-acquainted evening of bingo with prizes is scheduled for the Jan. 14 meeting.
Officers' Wives Seek Luncheon
"Time for a Party" will be the theme of the El Toro peers' Wives' Club luncheon to be held Jan. 21.
Guest speaker will be Brent, authoress of "Time for a Party," the complete host party book. Miss Brent will offer suggestions for spring summer parties and demonstrate her ideas for completeable arrangements and men.
All officers' wives active, tired, widowed and their guests are welcome to attend.
Reservations must be made by Jan. 17 with Mrs. W. Blatt, 633-4542 or Mrs. M. Wehmuller, 542-3320. Cancellations will be accepted no later than noon Jan. 20.
Officers' Wives of 3rd Marine Air Wing Headquarters Group will sponsor the event.
A fashion show, with models wearing hand knit creations, will be presented by Geri Sherman of Santa Ana.
All Alpha Delta Pi members in the Orange County Area are invited to attend.
"Candlelight Capers" will be the theme of the annual benefit dessert card party planned by the Anaheim Altrusa Club.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Disneyland Hotel Gourmet Restaurant Magnolia Room.
Tickets for the benefit are now on sale. A money tree will be awarded.
Plans were made at the club's Christmas party held at the home of Mrs. Carrie Rogers.
Her living room was accented by a ceiling-tall white Christmas tree trimmed with brilliant blue ornaments tied with Oriental tassels in matching color.

While many individuals have volunteered, Williams stressed group action by organizations in supplying typists.

Robert L. Williams, assisting campaign preparations, apaled for volunteer typists as the immediate need of help in addressing more than 250,000 envelopes that will carry appeals to Orange county residents for contributions.

Preview of Fashions Late January Event
The Orange County-Whittier section of Clipped Wings, United Air Lines Stewardess Alumnae, Inc. will hostess the first meeting of the year January 28th at the Newporter Inn in Newport Beach.
Cocktails will be served at 11 a.m. followed by luncheon at noon.
Highlights of the afternoon will be a sneak preview of fashions to be shown at Punch Brunch VIII at the Beverly Hilton on April 25th. La Scarpa shops will show fashions designed by Maggy Reese, Rudi Gernreich and other top California designers. Models will be Clipped Wings members.
Mrs. John Wickham of Redondo Beach, president, will preside over the business meeting. One important item is a proposed law change to be presented by Mrs. Gary Lehman, parliamentarian.
Mrs. Emmett Oehlerd of Costa Mesa, leader of the Orange County-Whittier section is in charge of luncheon arrangements and is assisted by Mmes. William Bell, Robert McCoy and Frank McElhoes.
AuditionSet For Young Musicians
Second semester auditions for the Youth Symphony Orchestra, sponsored by the Anaheim Park will be Saturday, January 18, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Loara High School Music Room.
Those selected by co-directors, Richard Marino and H. Robert Reynolds, will be notified by January 23, according to Diana R. Dunn, Department Recreation Supervisor.
Rehearsal for the second semester will begin January 25 at Loara.

Mrs. Raymond Kelly entertained members of Orange County Alumnae Kappa, sorority Saturday home.
Mrs. Kelly, the immediate president of the group, luncheon assisted by Mr. Shoemaker, Mrs. Davidson and Mrs. Charles Phinnan.
A business meeting was ducted by Mrs. William Balboa. Among topics discussed were gifts to the Maine State Mission, to the college office at Long Beach State College to the Orange County halls.
Reports were given on Kappa alumnae luncheon attended by local alumnae Long Beach and Los Angeles.
Mrs. Stanley Le Lievre introduced the speaker, Mr. James Hyams Hyams is employed by Sew Instruments of Costa Merl topic was “Electronics for Layman.”
This meeting was the fifth new year for the Kappas. Their last meeting a Christmas party held at home of Mrs. Paul Bush linton. It was the group's all-time favorite.
There are a lot of good things to become a failure, but taking a chance is the successful.

Philharmonic Concert
On New 1964 Calendar
The Orange County Philharmonic Society will welcome in its musical New Year with the third concert in the current season of six, featuring The Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, at Orange Coast College on Friday, Jan. 24, at 8:30 p.m.
In the absence of Zubin Mehta, the Orchestra's permanent Conductor, who is on a concert tour in Europe and Canada, guest conductors will appear in his place.
Andre Vandernoot, born 36 years ago in Brussels, Belgium, will conduct the January 24th concert. Vandernoot has appeared with great success with such orchestras as the Berlin, Vienna and Warsaw Philharmonies, the Philharmonia and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras of London, the Orchestra of the French Conservatory and the Orchestre National Francais in Paris and as far afield as Buenos Aires, Caracas, Barcelona, Lisbon, Oslo and Zagreb.
Operatic
In 1960 Vandernoot was named the First Conductor of the Theatre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels and has conducted there a wide range of the operatic repertory.
Sharing the honors with Van dernoot is the celebrated pianist, Eugene Istomin, born in New York City in 1925. Istomin has become one of the most widely traveled of all young American pianists. He has been repeatedly featured as a soloist with top orchestras throughout the world and has played at major music festivals and on leading recital series on six continents. The international spotlight has been on Istomin continually who has been featured regularly with orchestras in New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Chicago, throughout Europe, and in a tour of Australia, Japan Hong Kong, Singapore Saigon, Manila, Colombo, and Iceland.
The program will include Handel's Water Music Suite arranged by Harty; Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Op. 21; for Paino and Orchestra, Chopin; Music for Strings, Percussion and Celeste, Bartok; and Excerpts from the Ballet, "Romeo and Juliet", Prokofieff.
Single tickets, at $3.50, may be purchased at the Orange County Philharmonic office, 201 West Coast Highway, Newport Beach, 646-6411, and student tickets at $1.50.
The concert will be Previewed by Harold Gelman, well-known Los Angeles music authority, on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at the Balboa Bay Club, under the auspices of the Newport Harbor Service League and the Newport Harbor Women's Philharmonic Committee.

Sigma’s Guests At Fete
Mrs. Raymond Kelly of Orange entertained members of the Orange County Alumnae of Sigma Kappa, sorority Saturday at her home.
Mrs. Kelly, the immediate past president of the group, served a luncheon assisted by Mrs. R. H. Shoemaker, Mrs. David Dittman and Mrs. Charles Phinney.
A business meeting was conducted by Mrs. William Gurr of Balboa. Among topics discussed were gifts to the Maine Seacoast Mission, to the college chapter at Long Beach State College and to the Orange County hospital.
Reports were given on Sigma Kappa alumnae luncheons attended by local alumnae at both Long Beach and Los Angeles.
