Pharmacists' Ladies Visit County Patients
Members of the Women's Auxiliary to the Orange County Pharmaceutical Association visited the men's geriatric ward at Orange County General Hospital on Dec. 18.
The special projects committee, headed by Mrs. Noel Garrett of Westminster spent the morning decorating a tree which was donated by the organization. Other members then joined them to assist in presenting the men with gift-filled stockings.
The 42 patients also received boxes of home-made cookies.
Members and five adults will receive furniture, clothes, toys, shoes, canned goods, Christmas turkey and a tree from the hardworking ladies of the Auxiliary.
This facet of their activities was also incorporated last year.
The special projects committee includes the Mmes. Noel Garrett, chairman; Ollie Aide, A. R. Lopizich, Don Morrison, Andrew Berkley, Dale Woepse, George Buell, Robert Crow, Edsel Annis and Fred Adams.
Bridge Results
Members of Young Ladies stitute held their regular wily game, Dec. 19, with Antlipsky directing 40 players.
Mrs. C. Seeds and Frank Dermott took first place for North-South players.
Hester and Ben Mendoza, on; Nate Gillam and Fletcher, third; Mr. and Male Blank tied with He Mulligan and Dianne Carroll third and fourth place point.

The special projects committee, headed by Mrs. Noel Garrett of Westminster spent the morning decorating a tree which was donated by the organization. Other members then joined them to assist in presenting the men with gift-filled stockings.
The 42 patients also received boxes of home-made cookies. Coffee was served and Mmes. John Edington and Vincent Arrigo concluded the party by presenting a selection of Christmas carols.
This project became a permanent part of the chapter's charity work in 1962. Noting that the men's ward was unprovided for at the holiday season, Mrs. Garrett suggested that essential items might be supplied. This led to the collection of presents such as toiletries, stationery, games, slippers and magazines.
Additional gifts have been solicited for three needy Orange County families. Fifteen children Rebekah Lodge's Gifts Dispatched Home for Aged
Lois Rebekah Lodge No. 268 in Anaheim recently sent Christmas remembrances to the California Odd Fellows' Home in Saratoga. Especially remembered was Cora Stewart, formerly an Anaheim resident who now makes her home there.
Also receiving greetings from the Rebekahs were Gail Horn and Andrew DePauw, two of the children at the Rebekah's Children's Home at Gilroy. The youngsters are being sponsored by the Anaheim Lodge.
Plans have also been formulated to remember the Shut-ins at Christmas. Margaret Myers and Opal Meeker are heading that committee.
December 15 was the date of the Christmas party for the children, with Barbara A. Myers in charge of the program and Alice Pedrick overseeing the popcorn balls. The Rebekah's Christmas party was held on Dec. 20.
Rose Group Beginning To Organize
A nucleus of eleven men and women to form a rose fanciers organization in this area has met at the home of the Fred Cregars, 11621 Stephanie Lane, Garden Grove.
The purpose of the group is to assist and encourage all persons who grow roses, to share experiences in rose culture, conduct rose shows, and to attract new amateurs to a most interesting and all-rewarding of hobbies in nature's playground — that of growing roses.
Mrs. Jean Cregar was selected as temporary Chairman, Mr. George F. Roy, St. as Program Chairman, pro tempore, and Mrs. Loraine Spiess of Fullerton as pro tem Treasurer.
Regular election of permanent officers will be held in the near future, and Charter Membership privileges will remain open for two months.
Mr. John van Barneveld of the famous Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, a highly respected authority on rose culture, will give the program at the next meeting, to be held today at the Orange County Public Library, 431 So. Manchester, between Chapman and Garden Grove Blvd. in the city of Orange.
Van Barneveld's subject, with color slides and real flowers, is "Forty Years of Fun With Roses" and promises to be both entertaining and educational. He is also an official Consulting Rosarian in this area of the American Rose Society.
There will be refreshments and the meetings are open free to the public.
REALIZATION — "When I realized there were 250,000 babies born in the United States each year with serious birth defects, I decided to get into the fight to eliminate this tragic waste of human life," Mrs. James J. Wright, of Yorba Linda said today, as she accepted the Orange County Chapter chairmanship of the 1964 Mothers' March for the March of Dimes.
11 Gra-Y Clubs Set For Anaheim
Plans have also been formulated to remember the Shut-ins at Christmas. Margaret Myers and Opal Meeker are heading that committee.

PERFECT BALANCE — Bobbie Brooks works magic with Fire-side Co-ordinates guaranteed to give your mid-winter wardrobe a happy "lift." Casual checks are sparked to life in a neat blazer jacket edged in red. And the inside is for extra warmth and comfort. The slim pants, made for cozy lounging and lively living, reflects the red of the fireside flame. Under the jacket, there's a turtlenecked pullover in pure cotton knit for the sports-loving girl, to complete a look that's a port and lively fashion.
11 Gra-Y Clubs Set For Anaheim
A total of eleven Gra-Y clubs have recently been organized in the Savanna, Magnolia and Anaheim elementary school districts. The Gra-Y clubs are open to all boys in grades 4-5-6 and are combined into school area groups. There is an urgent need for male leadership for the boys, according to Don Latimer, Boys' Program Assistant of the Anaheim YMCA. Also needed are a committee of parents to act as a backing group for the advisor of each club.
A typical Gra-Y club meets with its leader twice each month. On Saturday morning they usually meet at a centralized home and are transported to the Anaheim Y for athletics, trampoline training, B.B. gun target practice, and other special-interest programs. Plans are made for field trips, week-end snow camp at Camp Osceola and an annual track-meet in the spring of each year.
The purpose of the Gra-Y is to be strong in body, mind, and spirit and to live in a Christian way in the home, school, church, and neighborhood. Members achieve this goal by working together. They are friendly and respect the rights of others. They show good sportsmanship, strive to be helpful at home, to keep up in their school work, and to take part in church activities regularly and are reverent to God.
Monaco' Benefit
Financing, games, and a midnight supper. Mrs. Herman T. Brown, Fellowships Chairman made the announcement last week.
The AAUW Fellowships, which will be the recipient of awards raised at the affair, was initiated in a program in 1888, weaver, the need for support expansion of the Fellowships program is shown by the that for 1963-64 there were applicants for the 50 nation-al fellowships available and 155 applicants for the 42 awarded to women of other countries.
Fellowship stipends range from $2000-5000, and most of the awards are given to women who have nearly completed work for their doctorate. This seems to be the time when it is most difficult for them to secure aid. The recipients have carried on their work in the widest range of subjects, from cancer research to the newest elementary articles of nuclear physics.
Assisting Mrs. Brown on the "Moonlight in Monaco" committee are Mmes. Richard Ritter, decorations; Roland K. Crow, entertainment; Hans Mylieff, games; Richard Hannawell, gifts; William R. Atkinson, refreshments; Jack R. Snead, Midnight Supper; James R. Harmon, publicity; and Herbert A. Fuchs, reservations.
Further information can be obtained from Mrs. Brown at PR 6-3917.
The AAUW has placed Orange State College on its roster of qualified colleges and universities. Notice of this honor was received by College President W. B. Langsdorf from the AAUW's national Washington, D.C. headquarters.
Blanche H. Dow, president of the association, stated that "women graduates, including those who graduated with a recognized baccalaureate or higher degree prior to AAUW listing, are now eligible for membership in the Association."
