This might be the name of a series of film showings at Orange State College which feature motion pictures that have been "cursed," suppressed, or commercial failures. Called "A Season of Films Maudits," the first Tuesday of each month will see 8 p.m. filings of these controversial and off-beat movies in Room 121 of the OSC Letters and Science Building. Dr. Charles S. Shapley, assistant professor of French at Orange State, who is in charge of the series, declares "most of the films in this series have been cursed by misunderstanding, hostility, supression, scandal, or the indifference of commercial distribution." Whether made on a shoe string or in a giant sutdio, harried by the censors or ignored by the distributors, they have suffered more than most films," he adds. Next in the series will be Bed and Sofa, a Russian movie classic concerning the Moscow housing shortage, and Un Chien Andalou, one of the few complete international films. Roast turkey is a hand-some centerpiece at any festive meal. This bird — beautifully glazed on the outside, moist and tender on the inside — qualifies for the highest praise. A very simple wine-butter baste treatment is all that's necessary to produce those qualities most desired in roast turkey. The pink California rose wine used in the baste is also an excellent choice to serve as the mealtime beverage. This recipe was developed for juniorize (6 to 8) pound turkeys, but needs only to be doubled for a larger bird. ROAST TURKEY ROSE 1 (6 to 9-pound) turkey 1 lime ½ cup butter or margarine ½ cup California rose wine Prepare turkey for roasting. Rub skin with cut lime and some of the butter. Place in roasting pan and cover (use aluminum foil if pan does not have cover). Roast in moderately hot oven (375 degrees F.) about 1 hour. Melt remaining butter, add win and juice from lime. Remove cover from turkey and roast 1 hour longer or until tender, basting frequently with butter-wine mixture. Specimen Trees and Shrubs Complete Nursery Service Botts Nursery 1228 W.
