His father, a banker and builder, hoped his son would follow a business career. Although Green graduated from Harvard at the age of 19, from his earliest boyhood he wanted only to be a composer and conductor. Green's first big song hit, "Coquette," was followed by many others, and by larger works performed by major orchestras here and abroad. Interspersed with his work in composing, arranging and directing with Paramount and MGM, he conducted the San Francisco Symphony, Boston Symphony and many others. A benefit for the Council of Arts, admission is by donation of $2.50. Students $1.00. These tickets are available at Karen Margreta, Imports, 2825 E. Coast Highway, Corona del Mar and at Richard's Lido Market. Phone, 675-3804 or OR 3-2749.
