When the 28th Annual Festival of Arts and Pageant of The Masters runs this year for five weeks—through August 11—there bound to be speculation about additional money in admissions fees and tickets sales that may move just as rapidly through gates to the Festival of Arts the 250,000 people who are expected.
A question often asked Festival of Arts officials is "What happens to all the money?"
Unknowingly, the early art who started the Festival "whether but spirit and a few pinings," to quote Festival manager Verner Beck, gave birth to an event which today has become one of the few institutions in United States which proves that art can be made to pay.

Since those days, the Festival has erected a $75,000 stage build- ing and rigged it with over $200,-000 worth of lighting, sound, and stage equipment.
Booths for Artists
The newest item on the Festival's building program, and so too, on its budget, is an attractive entrance gateway costing $25,000.
At the close of the 1963 Festival of Arts, approximately $100,000 will be spent on permanent con-crete exhibition booths for the artists of the Festival's future.
Built Hospital
In fields quite divorced from its openly aesthetic ends, the Festiv is also quite active. The South Coast Community Hospital was built with the aid of funds from the Festival amounting to $25,000.
All the funds acquired by the Festival of Arts come from the sale of tickets to the Pageant of the Masters and from general gate admissions.
Other art groups throughout the country eye with envy the finan- cial success of the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts and endeavor to do likewise, but as far as can be determined there is not a similar Festival in the United States.
This summer the 28th Annual Festival of Arts anticipates well over 250,000 persons will pass through the new entrance to the grounds. Of this number, 92,000 will view the Pageant of the Masters.
