Bridgford Is Rotary Club Chief
June has been "Rotary Month" for the William Bridgfords. The couple attended the 54th annual Rotary convention in St. Louis during the fore part of the month and Bill has now assumed his responsibilities as new president of the Anaheim club.
Installation ceremonies were held at the weekend by the local civic organization at the Yorba Linda Country Club.
The installation was conducted by Harold Kibby, Governor elect of District 532 which includes the Anaheim unit.
At the week-long St. Louis convention the Bridgfords were among nearly 11,000 Rotarians and their families attending. More than 50 countries were represented.
While there they were treated to entertainment features such as Helen Traubel of opera fame, and the St. Louis Municipal Opera presentation of "Carnival."
Willy Brandt, Mayor of West Berlin and Eric Johnston, president of the Motion Picture Association of America, were among the notables addressing the convention.
The Bridgfords live at 9681 Random Dr. in Anaheim.

Parks' Staff Sports Badge
Anaheim Park and Recreation Department personnel were issued distinctive identification badges for the first time this week.
John Collier, Director of Park and Recreation, commenting on the ID card, said, "Our primary objective for the badge was to boost morale. It was to be a symbol or identification so that the public, whom we serve, will know who we are."
"Formerly, we had no such recognition for playground leaders or park crews. Now as the staff enlarges, it is difficult to recall the names of all our personnel. The badge should solve that problem," Collier said.
"Our badge we feel will not only be distinctive but also recognizable for all Anaheim residents," he added.
Research and experimentation were employed to solve the unusual problem of what would be the best color scheme, Collier reports.
"We tried various chromatic schemes, such as blue to dark blue, red to dark red, and light green to dark green. After continuous tests, the present scheme of yellow to Orange was proven to be the best combination for viewing at a distance."
"The drawings on the badge of the bat and glove, play apparatus, drama mask, painters board and pen and treble clef, symbolize the department's well-rounded program," Collier declared.
To train local counterparts in places such as Afghanistan, and to treat patients, 10 American doctors and nurses serve on the CARE-MEDICO team in Kabul.
