Orange State Gets Okay To Offer Master Degrees Masters degrees for the first time will be offered at Orange State College this coming school year, according to an announcement from the Office of the President. OSC was authorized to grant the masters of arts degree in English, in history, and in the social sciences by the Trustees of the California State Colleges. Orange State now issues bachelor's degrees in twenty-two major fields. Although this will be the first time in the College's history that masters degrees will be awarded, graduate courses have been offered at Orange State for the last two years. Many of these count toward the new graduate degrees, states Dean Bernard L. Hyink, OSC Dean of Instruction. According to Glenn S. Dumke, Chancellor of the State Colleges, the new degrees represent an implementation of the master curricular plan for the State Colleges, recently approved by the Trustees to guide curriculum development and to prevent the unnecessary duplication of high-cost programs. "We are most pleased to be able to offer these three graduate degrees to the Orange County area we serve, and we hope to add to them soon. There will be in the future, a continuing enrichment and broadening of our educational program at the State College," President William B. Langsdorf declared. Further information will be forthcoming from the Office of Admissions and the Dean of Instruction's Office concerning the new graduate degrees. Courses leading to the awarding of the three masters degrees will be offered this Fall when the Colleges classes begin September 23. Yorba Lindan Hughes Chief Lloyd C.
