MRS. ARTHUR OSOWSKI ... Honored by Junior Ebell Woman of the Year Inter-Faith Society At Anaheim Lodge An inter-faith social for motion of better understaff among women in various munities and in various fields being sponsored by the County Stake Relief Society Friday, May 24, in the A Latter-Day Saints Stake Cemetery. Some 500 women are expected to attend the 1 p.m. social women's auxiliaries in the heim, Fullerton, La Habra, Buena Park areas. This first such affair sponsored Society. The program will feature Singing Mothers, a group of women under the directorship Mrs. Spencer Black. Accounts will be Mrs. Stanley Gudnitz. Display tables will be arranged in the cultural hall showing items created by Relief organizations. Mrs. Brigham F. Grastic,eral chairman, is being held by Mdmes. Harry W. Bee Joseph K. Marks. New Sales Chief At Newporter Inn Kenneth E. Scripsma has named Director of Sales for Newporter Inn, George D.cola, President, said Scripsma will handle conveyance and industrial contract work the multi-million dollar N Beach resort hotel. For the past five years Scripsma has managed the Ma Bay Yacht Club in Holland. MRS. ARTHUR OSOWSKI ... Honored by Junior Ebell Woman of the Year Mr. Arthur Osowski (Marie), is the Anaheim Junior Ebell Woman of the Year. She was cited for her outstanding efforts in 14 different club projects during the year, with an accumulation of 375 service points. Mrs. Osowski was Mental Health co-chairman; point chairman; assistant ocial service chairman; and benefit co-chairman, in charge of patrons and patronesses, for the annual spring benefit. Mrs. Osowski assisted in planning all welfare project and programs for the welfare section. She assisted in the Heart Fund Drive, stuffed Easter Seal envelopes, helped fill Christmas baskets for the needy, helped with the United Fund drive and the cookie bake for veterans hospital, and she assisted in the programs when speakers from the Parks and Recreation Department and the Mental Health Association were present. In the past Mr. Osowski has been club sponsored city chairman for Muscular Dystrophy Fund Campaign, telephone chairman and mental health co-chairman for two years. She is a member of the Palm Lane P.T.A. and the St. Boniface Mothers Guild. She has also helped Hughes Names Abel Manager Adam E. Abel has been appointed manager of the communications division of Hughes Aircraft Company's ground systems group, C. Harper Brubaker, vice president and ground systems group executive, announced. The communications division is currently engaged in the development and manufacture of advanced communications systems and components, including air-to-ground systems. Harper Brubaker, vice president and ground systems group executive, announced. The communications division is currently engaged in the development and manufacture of advanced communications systems and components, including air-to-ground and point-to-point radio, signal processors for high-speed data transmission, ground terminals for space communications, and laser communications. Abel was with the radio division of the Bendix Corporation for twenty-six years before joining Hughes. Appointed general manager of the division in 1957, he had complete responsibility for aviation electronics, military products and automotive radios. Local Nurse Given Award Gunda Glenmaker of Anaheim, a graduate of Northwestern School of Nursing, Minesota and a nurse at the Orange County General Hospital since 1950, has been chosen as the outstanding nurse of the year. She was honored at ceremonies held in Long Beach over the weekend. She was chosen from nominees submitted by hospital administrators of the Los Angeles-Orange County area to the Capt. William Sullivan Post 617 of the American Legion, sponsor of the annual event. At an impressive program, Mrs. Glenmaker received a medallion and other Kudos for her work. "Nurse of the Year" Glenmaker is active in Polio clinic work in Orange County. Four years ago she helped organize the Anaheim Polio Clinic sponsored by the Anaheim Junior Chamber of Commerce. It was noted by the selection committee that she had consistently refused monetary awards for her outside endeavors but asks that such funds be turned over to promote the growth of the nursing profession. Colonist In Force For Cooper Mission Ticket Sale Prizes Show Scout 'Lore' Incentive prizes distributed by Northern Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America have proven the youngsters of the Council are "the most enterprising salesmen" according to William W. Bent, Scout Executive of NOCC. The boys have been selling tickets for "The Winning of the West" an outstanding production of early American history which features a cast of more than 2,500 boys. The production will be held in La Palma Stadium on the nights of June 7 and 8. Curtain time is 8 p.m. Youngsters in selling tickets for the pageant have an opportunity to earn awards on an accumulative basis, nine prizes in all for selling 100 tickets. If a boy sells five tickets he earns a Tiki neckerchief slide. If he sells ten tickets, the prize is a spy camera and film, in addition to the Tiki neckerchief. Fifteen tickets prize is either a bank safe or sports combo knife set. If he choses, say, the bank, he also receives the combo knife set and the Tiki neckerchief slide. It is on an accumulative scale. One youngster when collecting his awards reported "why, it's just like Christmas." Sulfaro, Jr., seaman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Sulfaro, Sr., of 1131 Mossler St. Anaheim serving aboard the destroyer USS Mansfield, took part in the Pacific recovery force for Astronaut Leroy Gordon Cooper after his 22 orbits of the earth. LWV Under Attack By City GOP Unit An attack on the League of Women Voters has been launched by the Anaheim Republican Assembly for the League's position on at least four primary items cited in a resolution by the ARA. The republican group is urging its members and democrats to withdraw from the League on the grounds the League is in opposition to the principles of constitutional-republican form of government. These are the summaries of comments from Tom Lopker, press chairman for the assembly, following the current month's meeting of the group which reportedly hosted near 200 members and guests. The four points, Lopker declared, which the Assembly felt were primary points of disagreement with the League were: (1) The Citation by the California Senate Fact Finding Committee in its report on League participation in the campaign against the Loyalty Oath; (2) the League platform opposing any constitutional limitation on taxation; (3) the League's active role against the Liberty Amendment; (4) the confusing stand of League in claiming to support control of education while totally supporting legislation unify school districts and try to centralize control.
