Penny Bowls
For Parking
Shoppers in the downtown Anaheim area need not wait for "pennies from heaven," as the old song relates but may find a convenient bown of the one-cent pieces on the counters of nearly every merchant.
The bowls are kept handy for shoppers to get sufficient for their parking meter needs when they park on any of the streets that have the iron guardians of your time.
Next time you park downtown and can't find a penny in your purse, just try the first merchant's store you see and ask for a parking penny or two.
Men in Service
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (FHTNC)—Walter B. Shy, son of Mrs. M. J. Morgan of 1817 Charlestown, Anaheim, completed recruit training, Feb. 1, at the Naval Training Center, San Diego, Calif.
During the nine-week indoctrination to Navy life, recruits are trained in physical fitness, basic military law, military drill, customs and etiquette of the naval service, swimming and survival, first aid, and seamanship.
Joe Farber
Invites Non
The benefits, and the downright enjoyment of being a member and participant in the functions of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce have been succinctly expressed in the following comments which were made spontaneously by Joe Farber to the GAZETTE. They were so splendidly an honest appraisal we considered they should be reproduced for all to read, especially, the grand invitation to breakfast. Farber is the head of the Lucky Lady Sportswear Store on Lincoln.
He has labelled the statement as "comments from a merchant, and a personal invitation from Joe Farber." If only more people would know what's going on at the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, they would surely take greater pride in living in this area.
Business and professional men, dedicated, loyal and unselfish are giving so much of their time and their knowledge and their wisdom without thanks and without remuneration, towards guiding the destinies of the Chamber of Commerce just to help make Anaheim a better place in which...

During the openings several of the cities stated that the pat-licities was a return to areas of major offices commercial interests and they felt Anaheim was one of the cities that would join that list. Certainly Aldrich's statement bears out that judgment.
Stan Pawlowski, manager of the local office, commented that he naturally couldn't be happier with the town.
"This city really takes civic interest and civic pride seriously", he said, adding that the team-work between merchants in the downtown area to keep the ball rolling is undoubtedly one of the strong factors in the city.
PTA Holding Press Lunch
The three Anaheim PTA Councils, which include 50 school units, hosted a press luncheon today for professional newmen, radio station representatives, and the publicity chairmen of the individual PTAs within the three councils.
The special luncheon, held at the Anaheim Elks Club, was the unique project of the Anaheim Elementary Council, the Anaheim Secondary and the El Dorado Oeste Councils.
Down in the heart of Anaheim the city fathers have demonstrated a warm feeling for the wandering shopper in search of a parking space. And, perhaps best of all, the city has provided designated areas that may be occupied free of charge.
These parking areas have been available to motorists for some time as a part of the city's overall plan to make it easy for the residents and the visitor to find convenient spots to put away the car while they go about the busi-neas that lures them to the downtown area.

Why do they sacrifice their time from pleasures and their families? So that you and I can enjoy Anaheim more. Every resident of this city, indirectly, benefits from the work of the Chamber of Commerce...and so does every merchant, every business man and every professional man.
Sureg we may not all agree with some of the methods but none can disagree with the motives...just as noe every one could agree on policies or religion. This is Democracy at its best...and being loyal to the chamber of commerce, supporting it with your time and your membership, is only what a loyal citizen should do, and be happy that he is given the privilege of so doing.
To those of you in the business and professional world, I personally urge you to be a guest at the next breakfast meeting of the Ambassadors group...which will be held at the Wonder Bowl, Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. We adjourn promptly at 8:30.
Here you will have an opportunity of seeing just one of our committees in action, discussing ways and means, and solving problems that arise in the Chamber of Commerce. The Ambassadors is just one of many committees, composed of very busy men, who believe it is their privilege to be of service to our lovely community.
Signed,
Joe Farber

Without such spots, traffic experts declare, the downtown center would be so congested that traffic would barely move. Parking on the streets is permitted, of course, but most of the streets have parking meters which offer minor threats to peace of mind.
