8—The Anaheim Gazette Wednesday, May 1, 1962 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Amateurs May Enter Roses In May Event Amateur gardeners for this area are invited to compete for trophies, ribbons and other awards in the eighth free rose show in the "Pageant of Roses Garden" at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier. Sponsored by the Rio San Gabriel Rose Society and Rose Hills, the show will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12, in observance of Mother's Day. John van Barneveld, director of the American Rose Society's Southwest District and rosarian at Rose Hills, will be show chairman. He has announced that entries will be received at the Garden between 7 and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11. Following the judging, the show will be open to the public from noon to 6 p.m. that day from Sunday, May 12. There will be no entry, admission or parking charges.
