Paul of 1417 Sherrill St., Anaheim, is serving aboard the destroyer USS Taussig, which was part of the combined force of 20 ships engaged in a five-day exercise dealing mainly with anti-submarine warfare training. TOYS GIFTS Founder Visits Local Sorority The Alpha Psi Chapter of Pa Phi Sigma held their reopening monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Concetto Vitale of Anaheim. The membership was surplus by a visit from the sorority's founder, Aline Kinsey, who gave most interesting demonstrations program on the subject of "gramming of the Sorority." A project of collecting used cards to be converted into Braille for the blind was enthusiastically adopted by the chapter. Anyone wishing to donate can call Mrs. Harold Cox at 3-1497. Rush Captain, Mrs. David Sen, presented the season's plans, which will start with luncheon and fashion show at Gourmet at the Disneyland Hotel on March 14. Secondly, rushees are invited sit in on a model meeting April 16, at which time they see first-hand a sample of Ka Phi Sigma's cultural program. Membership priority sale of tickets begins this Saturday, February 23 and continues through Mar. 9. The only priority for tickets to the Pageant of the Master will be that granted those holding membership in the Festival of Arts Association. The Festival of Arts box office has already returned thousands of dollars in advance reservations to would-be early birds. The general public will be able to purchase tickets from Mar. 15 until sell-out. Ralph C. Since 1922 Dr. Smedley has been a resident of Orange County where he organized the No. 1 Toastmasters Club in 1924. He and Mrs. Smedley live at 320 Orhid Ave., Corona del Mar. Palm Lane PTA Hears Pastor "Focus on Freedom" was the theme of the annual Founder's Day Program presented at Palm Lane's February meeting. The Inspirational message was delivered by Reverand Edward W. Greenfield, of the Church of Reflections. The meeting was conducted by the men of the P.T.A. under the direction of Murray Sturmer, husband of the association's president. Cub Pack 128, who led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, also presented a pageant depicting the contributions made by each generation to our American Heritage. Miss Murphy's Third Grdae children enacted a short skit on Dental Health. The Past Presidents were introduced during the business meeting and the Honorary Life Memberships were presented. These were given to: Mrs. Ruth Mancini, Palm Lane's Second Grade Teacher; Paul Ridenour, Boy Scout Representative; and Mrs. Adriene Sturmer, Palm Lane's P.T.A. President. Prepared and scored by Science Research Associates, Chicago, the knowledge and attitude test is the basis for naming of local and state Homemakers of Tomorow. Personal observation and interviews are factors in the national judging. The 1963 Betty Crocker Search reached another all-time high in enrollment, with 410,466 girls in 12,964 schools participating. Since the program started nine years ago, approximately three million girls have enrolled, and including this year, scholarship awards will approach the million dollar mark. Chapman Film Guild Opens With Comedy ORANGE — The Chapman College Great Films Guild will open its spring-summer series for 1963 with the French comedy, "Jules and Jim", February 27 and 28, at 8 p.m. in the Orange Theater. "Jules and Jim" was written and directed by Francois Trufaut, whose earlier film "The 400 Blows" was shown by the Great Films Guild in 1960. The Great Films Guild is now in its sixth year of presenting showings of international films selected for their outstanding achievements in screen direction, acting, and photography.
