Concrete lined channel would be provided only between Walnut Avenue and Cambridge Street according to the plan. MORE ABOUT Disneyland (Continued from Page 1) before the council on any such project. Earlier, spokesmen for both Disneyland and the hotel group had indicated that several attempts at settling the problem posed by the hotel plans had met with less than complete success. Staff members from both groups had met three times. While they had agreed on some plans to screen the Disneyland from the sight of the hotel, with experience in air defense systems, design and development, and program management, Jenkins has authored num However, extensive excavation would be needed between the Villa Park Dam and the Santa Ana River to provide an adequate creekbed for the booming population. The remainder of the creekbed has been left open to allow percolation which would recharge the ground water level. Osborne explained. There is no urgency for the improvements, he said. However, there is an urgency for the plan. It is not particularly hazardous because of the Villa Park Dam upstream which protects against flooding. The dam can allow up to 3,500 cubic feet per second to flow in the creek. Osborne said much of the land in the wash of the creek won't be suitable for development for many years. The proposed Master Plan of Regional Parks for Orange County suggests the entire creekbed from the dam to the river should be retained as a recreational "green belt." A barrier in the path of converting the entire creekbed into a park is that most of the property involved is privately owned. The district recently was given authority to permit recreational activities on its property. One of its first actions under the new power was to permit hiking and horseback riding along the Santa Ana River from the ocean to near Katella Avenue, according to Osborne. Orange County Flood Control district is not a part of the county government. It is a separate political subdivision, Osborne explained. It is governed by the board of supervisors. However, when supervisors are acting on flood control matters, they are the district's board of directors and work under different laws. Osborne continued. Also the district includes all cities within the county, as its boundaries are the same as the county's. Marine Private FREDERICK J. FLIHAN, son of Mrs. Eva R. Flihan of 10322 Bouvais Rd., has completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. Anaheim Accountant Pair’s Work Prints Thomas J. Cotter, 303 N. Commenting on what action the council might take on the matter Mayor Rex Coons pointed out that another group of developers had once obtained a permit to build a high rise structure near Disneyland, but failed to get the project going. It would have been somewhat closer than the Sheraton site, but only about half as tall. The mayor did indicate Disneyland's protest would get a closed hearing. "Any organization which invests $50 million in a community has the right to some degree of protection. How much protection I can't say at this time." "But," he concluded. "you can say the council is going to take no action which is going to reduce the effect of Disneyland." "I feel so insecure." Awards contracts Buildings Jars are for jam, not savings.
