Dr. William K. Friend, OCMA resident, reaffirmed the association's plans Thursday following public recommendation by the U.S. Public Health Service that immunity immunization programs with Type 3 vaccine be continued. The public health service earlier had suggested that the use of Type 3 be halted while a study was being made of its safety. The agency's endorsement of the vaccine's continued use gave communities across the nation a green light on programs that were being held in abeyance. The public health service recommended administration of Type 3 to all children and to all adults, especially those who are at high risk of contracting the naturally occurring disease. Examples of such adults are parents with young children, pregnant women and persons who are planning foreign travel. Dr. Friend said he had felt virtually certain that a go-ahead would come from the public health service in time for the February clinics. "The vaccine is already ordered and all of our clinic supplies are on hand," he said. ANAHEIM TRUCK & TRANSFER CO.
