“This is the time of the year when we traditionally give thanks,” said Muscular Dystrophy Orange County Chapter President James P. Buck of Tustin.
“This year we have a great deal to be thankful for in Orange County. Firstly, there will be almost 6,000 Muscular Dystrophy volunteers calling on their neighbors this week-end on behalf of our many local MD victims. Next, our especial thanks to the people at the Martin Luther Hospital in Anaheim for providing space for our MD sponsored Clinic — the first in Orange County and now celebrating completion of it's first year of existence and service.
“We're also thankful that we have been able to stretch our present funds just far enough to care for the doubled patient load that has existed here during the past year. Since a common cold could end the life of our MD children, families have moved into our area to escape the harshters elsewhere.
“Our goal this year has raised to $35,000.00 in order continue providing no cost selections to all Orange County’s MD patients and to help with our sale of the $110,000.00 local research program being carried on by different medical teams.
“Our sole hope of finding a for this always fatal muscle ter is through the laboratori there are a total of 100 science teams sponsored by our associations, working on the cause cure of MD. When we do have something to be thanked for.
“And finally, none of the the chapter does for it's pat could be done without the erous support of the public Our thanks to all who have given in the past to the volunteer w ing the Jerry Lewis badge hope we might interest all of new Orange County residents join their neighbors by giving their local Marcher this w end,” Buck concluded. The MD drive for funds will cont through the month of December.”

Need Appliances For Patients
The Orange County Association for Mental Health is looking for two automatic washing machines and two driers for occupational therapy in the Neuropsychiatric Department of the Orange County General Hospital.
Mentally ill persons in the hospital are encouraged to behave as normally as possible, and wearing their regular clothes rather than uniform hospital garments encourages their self respect and hope of getting back to homes and jobs in the community.
These patients are not bad patients as in the other departments of the hospital. Only those patients who are able to do so can wash their own clothes as part of the occupational therapy program, if the machines could be provided.
Anyone or organization interested in contributing automatic washing machines and driers is urged to contact the Orange County Association for Mental Health, 1302 North Broadway, Santa Ana, California, KImberly 7-7559.
