ANAHEIM GAZETTE Wednesday, November 14, 1963 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Pledge Drive Set By OC Unitarians A pancake breakfast this Sunday will mark the beginning of the annual pledge drive for Orange County Unitarians. To be held at the church, 1120 W. Santa Ana Street, Anaheim, the breakfast is slated for the hours of 8:30 to 10 o'clock. Dave Elliott is serving as chairman of the occasion and the drive. In place of the customary two church services, there will be only one at 10:30 according to the Rev. Lewis A. McGee, minister. Religious education classes, too, will be replaced on this date with a puppet show, this under the direction of Mrs. Virginia Barcus. The show is to initiate a two-week drive for clothing to be given to the needy. Speaking of the Sunday service, Rev. McGee said, "It has been arranged that several members of the church will address the congregation relative to the need for financial support of the program and activities of the group during the coming year." All-Year Club Gets Citation The All-Year Club of Southern California has been cited for their travel press releases as "the best of any travel area in the world." The releases, designed to attract tourists to Southern California, received the award for "The Most Effective Travel Coverage of art area in the World," which Bishops Slate Annual Clothing Drive for Needy "Give Thanks by Giving" is the slogan for the annual Thanksgiving clothing collection sponsored by the Catholic Bishops of the United States for the needy overseas. Rt. Rev. Msgr. James E. Dolan, director of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, has been appointed archdiocesan director of the drive the week of Nov. 18-25. Parishes throughout the archdiocese will be asked to participate by providing wearable used clothing and shoes, serviceable blankets and bedding to be shipped abroad and distributed to those in need. Catholic Relief Services maintains relief and welfare programs under American supervision in areas of distress in 67 countries around the globe. Every article donated is promptly sent to those countries and areas where it is most needed and where it will do the most good. Distribution is made without regard to race, color, creed or national origin. Trucks of the St. Vincent de Paul Society will call at parishes for the clothes collections the week of Nov. 25 for processing, baling and shipment through salvage bureau facilities. Most needed are men's suits, pants, shirts, workclothes and workshoes; children's clothing and layettes for infants, Msgr. Dolan said. STORK CLUB Garden Park General Hospital Mr. and Mrs. Ernest R. Spiritual Healing To Be CS Subject Spiritual healing will be a topic dealt with at Christian Science services Sunday in a Lesson-Sermon on the subject "Mortals and Immortals." Scriptural selections will include this verse from Matthew: "And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease." One of the correlative citations to be read from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy states: "Every day makes its demands upon us for higher proofs rather than professions of Christian power. These proofs consist solely in the destruction of sin, sickness, and death by the power of Spirit, as Jesus destroyed them. This is an element of progress, and progress is the law of God, whose law demands of us only what we can certainly fulfil" (p. 233).
