Bal Masque To Use International Theme
"Bal Masque Internationale" will be the theme of the Bal Masque benefit to be held Feb. 22 in the Disneyland Hotel Embassy Room by Damas de Caridad.
Anaheim will again be well represented in the colorful affair for which members of the Orange County Florists Association will create masques representing the countries of their choice. The florists drew names to decide who would wear their creations.
Wayne Andrade of Anaheim, winner of the mayor's trophy in last year's competition, will design a masque for Mrs. Victor Peltzer of Anaheim, Mrs. Peltser is a member of St. Joseph Hospital Guild and a past president of the Maywood Mother's Auxiliary.
Also from Anaheim and winner of last year's Las Flores trophy, Carman Lizarraga will design a masque for Mrs. Fred Kay of Fullerton, Mrs. Kay is corresponding secretary of the Damas, a vice-president and ways and means chairman for St. Jude Hospital Guild, and active in Children's Home and Orange County Medical Auxiliary.
Douglas Lucas of Westminster, will have as his mannequin Mrs. Ernest Rose of Anaheim who is president of Anaheim Ebell Club and St. Agnes Guild.
Placentia florist Tony Morales will have Mrs. Jay Read of Fullerton as his mannequin, Mrs. Read, a mannequin in last year's Bal Masque Fantasy, is active in the Anaheim Junior Assistance League, the Trojan League of Orange County and St. Mary's Guild.
Announcement of the theme was made at the recent dinner honoring mannequins and florists who will combine to present the second annual dinner dance and promenade. Music, which will be provided by society bandleader Barney Sorkin, will complement the national origin of each design.
Last year's initial ball packed the Embassy Room where 750 guests watched the parade of 12 floral masquered models who wore creations by twelve Orange County florists.
