The Woman’s World St. Jude Opens Sister Jane Frances, who has recently become a member of American Hospital Administrators, thanked the St. Jude Guild and our Junior Guild for the assistance ceremonies for the opening of the new west wing of the hospital. Dr. Ryel, radiologist, described the portable x-ray machine do- Family Income To Be Subject 'n AFHS Class "Managing the Family Income" one of the most popular courses in the Anaheim Evening High School adult education program, begins a new six week series Oct. 25. The course is conducted by Charles W. Moore, a family financial counselor with 25 years experience in helping families solve money problems. He is author of a book "Why Your Money Never Seems to Reach." (Renwood Studio) Officers Seated By Welcome Club The Welcome Stranger Club of Orange County held its third annual dinner-dance at the Revere House, Tustin, with eighty-five in attendance to install the new executive officers. Mrs. Dave Jewett, retiring president, conducted the installation ceremonies, installing the following officers: Mrs. Donald McDonough, president; Mrs. Robert Pernell, first vice-president; Mrs. Ross Poulsen, second vice-president; Mrs. John Swenson, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Joe Hanson, recording secretary; and Mrs. John Irwin, treasurer. Mrs. McDonough then announced her new board as follows: Program Chairman, Mrs. Robert Morgan; publicity chairman, Mrs. Harold Colasont; telephone chairman, Mrs. Gordon Marsh; newsletter chairman, Mrs. Jim Hignett; ladies evening bridge, Mrs. John Baker; couples evening bridge, Mrs. Kenneth Mumford; ladies afternoon bridge, Mrs. Ed Holgate; gadabout chairman, Mrs. Merrill Handy; ladies morning bowling, Mrs. Jim Thomas; couples evening bowling, Mr. Harold Colasont; hospitality chairman, Mrs. C. T. Carlson; and special events chairmen, Mr. and Mrs. Don Steiler. The purpose of the club is to meet and greet new faces and to help them become acquainted with the area. OCPA Meeting Set for Today Regular monthly meeting of the Women's Auxiliary to the Orange County pharmaceutical Association will be held today at the home of Mrs. C. V. Turner, 257 Magnolia, Costa Mesa. Members are invited to bring new prospective members to the luncheon. This being National Pharmacy Week, Oct. 7-13, we have as our guest speaker this month Mrs. F. SAVANNA HIGH SCHOOL ANAHEIM UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT SOPH ELECTIONS OCT 12 UNITED FUND DRUMMING IT UP — Youth Leaders of Savanna High School portray enthusiasm for the coming United Fund “Youth Drive” being conducted this week in all Anaheim Union High secondary schools. Tickets may be purchased by individuals, several persons, or even clubs and organizations. The profit from the sale of these tickets is used to finance the Needy Patient Fund. The drawing will be Dec. 5 at 2:30 p.m. at Barton Chevrolet, Yorba Linda, Mrs. Fred Kay and Mrs. Edward Hansen are the members responsible for this project. Miss Lackey is also a resource teacher for blind students at Hayden School in Westminster where a program of integrating blind and sighted youngsters is conducted. The class at Western High School is taught by "sight" with each student having the use of a "Brailler" which is a device for writing Braille similar to a typewriter. Just recently a field trip was taken to the County Office in Santa Ana where a newly formed transcribers group were meeting. In the future Miss Lackey plans to have an Ophthalmologist speak to the class and the director of California Society for the Prevention of Blindness will also speak. There is an urgent need for students to learn Braille so that they might help transcribe ink-print books into Braille. Anyone interested in signing up for this class, may do so by attending the next meeting at Western High School. Hanna To Speak at CEC Chapter Meet The Orange County Chapter, Council for Exceptional Children will meet this afternoon at 4:00 in the Fremont Junior High School Auditorium, 608 West Lincoln, where Assemblyman Richard Hanna will speak on "The Role of the Educator in Legislation." This meeting will be of special interest to those who are concerned about the handicapped child and his future. Hanna is chairman of the Assembly Education Committee.
