Texas Senator In Anaheim Appearance Next Friday
More than 800 Orange Countians are expected to attend a Republican fund-raising dinner featuring Senator John Tower of Texas Friday, at Disneyland Hotel.
Orange County address of Senator Tower will be the major appearance of the young, dynamic Texas conservative on a flying trip from Washington to the West.
The $100-a-plate dinner is sponsored by the Orange County Republican Central Committee as a fund-raiser on behalf of GOP candidates seeking national and state offices.
A social hour will precede dinner at 7:30 p.m. in the Embassy Room of Disneyland Hotel.
Water Knott of Buena Park and Dr. David Nielsen of Newport Beach are co-chairmen of the dinner. Committee members include Mrs. Willis Clark of Rossmoor, Dr. Richard Hayden of Gar.
Welcome addresses will be given by Anaheim Mayor Rex Coons. Barnes of Newport Beach.
Anaheim YMCA members friends this week welcome Frank J. Sekeris to this city to his new position as boys’ gram secretary, according Richard W. Gay, ‘Y’ Preside.
Sekeris, prior to this meeting as the general secretary of the Norwalk-La Mirada YMCA, he previously did youth work the Whittier YMCA.
Born in Santa Ana he attended schools of that city including Santa Ana Junior College, studying at Orange Coast Ju College and Whittier College has directed camping and y programs.
Commendation from both mer employing YMCA’s and Pacific Southwest Area YMCA for his work record were received by the Anaheim YMCA personnel committee, headed by Mrs. ter Warwick, Gay reported.

Public Observance
A public observance of the Constitution of the United States will be staged Friday by units of the Anaheim, Orange and Yorba Linda Masonic lodges, in cooperation with 22 local Legion posts.

PUC Hears Plans To Acquire Dyke Property Thurs.
Public hearings on the applications of Anaheim, Westminster and Garden Grove asking the California Public Utilities Commission to fix the just compensation by the cities for Dyke Water Company properties will be held tomorrow in Los Angeles.
Hearings will be called in the New State Building, 107 South Broadway, by Commissioner Everett C. McKeage and PUC Examiner F. Everett Emerson, in the following order: Anaheim at 10 a.m., Westminster at 10:30 a.m. and Garden Grove at 11 a.m.
Three cities have announced plans to acquire Dyke properties in and adjacent to their boundaries by condemnation and have petitioned the Commission to determine the fair value of the properties. Garden Grove seeks to acquire not only the part of the Dyke system within its boundaries, but also portions of the Dyke system in Stanton, Santa Ana and Orange.

Three fleeting months of care-free vacation time came to an end yesterday for more than 35,000 Anaheim youngsters as Fall semester schedules opened in this community.
Some 15,000 pre-teen youngsters will be attending Anaheim’s elementary schools, according to Robert Shanks, district superintendent. However, he said, there will be no double sessions in any part of the district.
Although some crowding will be experienced in the district, notably in the eastern portion of the city, present classroom space should prove adequate, he said.
District board, at last night’s meeting, opened bids for a new school in this area. Construction is expected to begin immediately and the facility should be ready for occupancy within a year.
High School
With the opening of the new Ball Junior High School for Fall classes total high school district enrollment is expected to exceed 21,000, according to Paul Cook, superintendent of the Anaheim Union High School District.
Early registration figures indicated that enrollment at the city’s five high schools would be: Anheim, 2,410; Magnolia, 1,779; Loara, 622; Savanna, 1,629; and Western, 2,637.
Junior high school pre-registration shows: Brookhurst, 1,317; Orangeview, 1,100; Fremont, 1,300; Walker, 1,225; Crescent, 1,100; Trident, 1,240; Dale, 1,270; Oak, 1,105; Ball, 1,138; and Sycamore 1,400.

H. Charles Clitheroe, Athens Court, Anaheim, has named to head the Orange City District for the national J.A. Achievement program.
Appointment was made at conclusion of a brief graduation ceremony for JA executive trainees in Burbank last week.
Clitheroe will be responsible for the operation and management of the JA program in county.
Married, and the father of children, Clitheroe is active Anaheim Y-Indian Guides in Little League. A graduate UCLA he was a teacher in Glendale Unified School District.

CLOSES CAREER — Mrs. Bea Miller, Anaheim’s finance director, brought to an end her 88-year career as a city employee Friday when she announced her retirement. Mrs. Miller first came to the city as deputy city clerk in 1924. In 1934 she was named to the post-of city auditor and in 1956 became finance director. As finance director she was in complete charge of an annual $8,000,000 operation. Shown above with John Woodstra, of the accounting office, and Larry Runyon, data processing supervisor, she said that she would like to relax for a while and then travel.
Former President Begins Tour Of State Following Disneyland Visit Tomorrow
Former President Harry S. Trueman has added a tour of Disneyland to his first visit to Orange County tomorrow, it was announced today by Assemblyman Richard T. Hanna, democratic candidate for congress in the new 34th congressional district and Truman's host on his visit.
Truman, who will tour Disneyland in the morning, is scheduled to make a major campaign address on behalf of Hanna's candidacy at a $5-a-plate noon lunch.
Reece Ballard and William Danemeyer and will be open to the general public, Hanna said.
Tickets for the Truman reception and luncheon may be purchased 'at Democratic headquarters throughout the county and at Central Labor Council headquarters in Santa Ana.

A 21-year old Anaheim woman required hospital treatment for injuries after she was attacked by two teenage thugs Sunday, Judith Kay Stout, 743 N. Los Angeles St., told police that she was accosted by the youths in a parking lot at
1776 W. Lincoln St., and was struck in the head by one of the boys when she began screaming. Several stitches were necessary to close the laceration caused by the blow.
A 19-year old Anaheim youth is recovering today from a gunshot wound he received last week in the Los Padres National Forest. Tim Humphries, 2274 Falmouth,
apparently shot himself in the leg with a heavy caliber rifle while on a deer hunting trip. He is under treatment at Palm Harbor Hospital.
State funds will be used to install traffic signals, highway lighting and channelization at the intersection of the eastbound off-ramp of the Riverside Freeway and Brookhurst Ave. in Anaheim,
and the westbound off-ramp and Brookhurst Ave. in Fullerton. Estimated cost of $33,000 for the project will be supplied from Highway Commission funds.
