ANAHEIM GAZETTE Wednesday, August 25, 1962 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA OBITUARIES Services for John Theodore Tobler, 76, of 1261 N. Fulton Ave. were held at the First Southern Baptist Church in Fullerton with Peek Family Colonial Funeral Home officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress. A resident of the county for three years, he died suddenly Aug. 20 at Anaheim Memorial Hospital. Surviving are his wife, Kose; a son, Clayton, a sister and five grandchildren. Funeral services for Elizabeth Ann Wiles, 80, of 3115 Coolidge Ave., were conducted by Rose Hills Mortuary, in Rainbow Chapel, with the Rev. Frank L. Crutchlow officiating. Interment followed in Rose Hills Memorial Park. Mrs. Wiles, a resident of California for 27 years, was born in Arizona and died Wednesday at Downey Community Hospital. She is survived by three daughters: Sylvia J. Benedict, Joyce Fessler, Shirley Biller; two sons: Valentine and Ellis Wiles; two sisters (Mary Braven and Sophia Welch; ten grandchildren, and seven greatgrandchildren. Junior Ebell's To Hold Dance The Anaheim Junior Ebell club will hold a "Roaring Twenties" dance Sept. 8, at 7 p.m., at the Garden Grove Women's Civic Club, 950 Chapman, Garden Grove. The dance will feature a spaghetti dinner, dancing, and entertainment straight out of the past with Junior Ebell girls dancing and singing. The M.C. will be Joe Bell. Ways and means chairman, Mrs. Jack Alberts, has announced the price would be $8 per couple, and costumes were optional. For reservations call Mrs. William Woodyard at TA 8-2487 or Mrs. A. C. Cook at PR 4-9020. Mrs. Bassoff Named To Sisterhood Post Mrs. Arnold Bassoff of Anaheim has been named vice-president of the religious school in the Sisterhood of Temple Beth Sholom of Orange County. Mrs. Bassoff is also chairman of the day for the membership meeting to be held Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. in the social hall of the new Temple in Santa Ana. Newcomers are invited to attend the meeting. J. Cain, 1009 Ambridge St. Visiting here from Mississippi are Mr. Cain's mother, Mrs. Eron (Cain) Pollard, and his grandmother, Mrs. Anna Speck. The local Cains' children, Patrick, 18; Michael, 14; and Kevin, 6, complete the four generations. Accompanying the two ladies are Mrs. Speck's other daughter, Mrs. Naomi Roberds, with whom she makes her home in Yasoo, Miss., and Mrs. Pollard's friend, Mrs. Edna Downing of Weir, Miss. Mrs. Pollard is also from Weir. The foursome arrived here Friday, having motored to Lake Louise and Washington with stopovers at the Seattle World's Fair, San Francisco and Yosemite. While here they will visit the usual sights including Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm and a trip to Mexico. This is the first visit to California for all four women. Mrs. Speck came as far west as Yellowstone Park in 1857. Widowed three times, the first time at the age of 21 when she was left with three children, she has led an active, productive life and even ran a post office following the death of her third husband. A bright, inquisitive woman, Mrs. Speck keeps abreast of the times through reading and televi- sion. She plays bridge for entertainment and devotes much of her time to church activities. Always a resident of Mississippi Mrs. Speck claims the distinction of being the granddaughter of the first male white child born in Monroe County Mississippi after it became a state. Her grandfather's name was John Wise. Drive-In Dairy Opens 4th Store In Costa Mesa An Anaheim drive-in dairy owner this week announced the opening of a fourth outlet in his chain...this time serving the residents of Costa Mesa. Luken's Drive-In Dairy stores, which maintain facilities in Anaheim, Santa Ana and Garden Grove, will operate the new venture, located at 17th and Santa Ana Ave. in Costa Mesa. Plant fresh milk, which customers can see being processing procedures and buy milk fresh off the bottling machines, procured only a matter of hours earlier at the firm's Santa Ana dairy barns. Jim Lukens, a veteran of 25 years in the dairy business, said that local contractors are Willard Bailey of Custom Craft Masonry, Newport Beach, and Moody Electric of Anaheim. It will stand permanently on the quarterdeck at Los Alamitos. Sweet Adelines Slate Program The Fullerton Sweet Adlines have slated Sept. 29 for their third annual show, "Sho-Nuf," to be presented at Wilshire Junior High School in Fullerton.
