Commissioners criticised legal descriptions and maps submitted to the county to outline the territory. Sumptious New City Library Will Occupy Site Of Former Landmine In a few years an Anaheim youngster, browsing through the city's new central library, may come upon a book dealing with Anaheim's history. While designing the Central Public Library, currently under construction at Broadway Ave. and Harbor Blvd., architect Joe Jordan retraced the site's histoy back to the mid-1800's. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Rimpau moved into their new stately mansion in 1863. For many years the mansion doubled as the city's first Catholic church. When visiting priests arrived, bell ringers scurried down the streets announcing that mass services would be held. Rimpau, Jordan notes, was a rancher and also one of the city's first merchants. After they passed away, one of the Rimpau's 12 children, Sophie, lived in the family home until her death. Clear Anaheim Man On Cancer Clinic Charge Grand theft and conspiracy charges were dismissed last week against three physicians and an Anaheim man, operators of the Fremont Christian Clinic in Los Angeles. Forrest Schickendanze, of Anaheim, and Drs. Roy DeWelles, Willoughby Sherwood and Charles Hawk, were cleared of the charges by Superior Court Judge J. Howard Ziemann Friday. The four men had faced criminal felony charges filed through the California Department of Health, when it was revealed that they were practicing a controversial, non-surgical treatment for cancer victims. Local Fugitive Arrested; Sought On Check Charge Henry 'Russ' Ruskin, erstwhile Anaheim City Council candidate, was arrested last weekend on bad check charges after local police were 'tipped off' that he was living in a Long Beach motel. Officers had been searching for Ruskin since mid-July on bad check charges. Suspect, who formerly made his home at 1531 La Palma Ave., had been a frontrunning candidate in April municipal elections until the day before election. At this time it was charged that he had exaggerated his military record and the accompanying bad publicity contributed to his defeat. In excess of $1000 in bad checks were alleged to have been passed in Anaheim by Ruskin, investigating officers stated. Suspect is held on a felony warrant issued last month. Age of the callers was estimated by the sound of their voices. Anaheim Tots Strut in Caps, Gowns At Cradle School Ceremony Saturday Graduating students of Temple Beth Emet's Cradle Roll, a Hebrew class for children two seconds old to school age, will don miniature caps and gowns and receive pint-size diplomas Saturday at the Temple, 400 N. Emily Street. The young grads, who will enter school in September, will also be honored with a party by their parents and by undergraduates still in the diaper and sunsuit stage. The class is sponsored by the Temple's Young Married Couples Club, heavy contributors to the membership. Diplomas will be presented at 10 a.m. followed by games and refreshments. Mrs. Sy Alper, Mrs. Ira Klinger and Mrs. Sheldon Goodman are in charge. The Cradle Roll graduates are now eligible for Sunday School for which registration will be held Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon. Water Company California Public Utilities Commission reported this week it has set the adjourned hearing on two applications by the Dyke Water Company for a rate increase for September 18 in Los Angeles. PUC Examiner F. Everett Emerson will preside at 10 a.m. in the Commission courtroom in the State Office Building, 107 South Broadway. Dyke Company, which serves some 22,000 customers in Western Orange County and a part of Anaheim asked authority to raise its flat rate from $3 to $4.50 a month and in a second application requested the increase on an emergency basis. Initial hearing on the applications was held last March 19, then continued to some future date. ANAHEIM at a Glance The condition of Mark William Rich, 5, 742 N. Pine, is according to hospital officials, the same. The youngster was critically hurt by a passing car recently when he dashed into the street from behind a parked vehicle near Edison School. Leonard Fetter, 63, Anaheim, hit by a car while traveling to work last week end, is now at home. He was treated for minor abrasions and contusions at Anaheim Memorial Hospital. Ira Burton Doyle, 18, 1508 S. Jill Rd., was treated for minor injuries and sent home after a collision of vehicles at Cerritos and Ninth Sts. Saturday. Look for owners of the property on the 100 block of West Lincoln (north side) to decide within the next two weeks whether they will go for drastic redevelopment of the buildings on the block or for a more moderate modernization of the parking-lot off-street side of the business concerns.
