OCSC Titans Rest, Take Court Tomorrow Against Cal Western Orange County State College was in the midst of an 11-day break from basketball wars this week but the Titans were readying themselves for the tough homestretch that lies between here and the end of the season. The Titans still boast the best small college record in the Southland, 18-3, after scoring impressive wins over Long Beach State and the University of Redlands last week. Orange State gets back into the thick of things tomorrow when the Titans travel to San Diego to help dedicate the new Cal Western University gymnasium. On Saturday, they return to meet Chapman College of Orange at Santa Ana College. It'll be homecoming for Chapman. In previous meetings with Chapman this season, Orange County State prevailed both times, 71-64 in the Redlands tour-nament and 65-62 in a game at Fullerton JC. Orange State also defeated Cal Western 47-37 in the Las Vegas Classic. Edgar Clark continues to lead the Titan scoring attack with a 21.9 point per game average. He has scored a total of 461 points in 21 games, the same number Jon Brettman scored in 23 last year to lead Orange County scorers. Brettman is running second to Clark this season averaging 15.4 points per game while Leonard Guinn is 15.0 and Terry Hermann 10.9. After the Cal Western and Chapman games Orange County travels to Northridge to meet San Fernando Valley State on Tuesday, and then wraps up the regular season on Feb. 22 at Fullerton JC. —Who pays for advertising? This name will keep coming to mind. Her numbers are all in good selection. Al Caiola has a solid gold guiMiss Wagner Recital At OCSC Sunday Edyth Wagner, keyboard artist and member of the Orange County State College faculty, will present a lecture recital of old keyboard music played on the clavicord Sunday, Feb. 18, at 3 p.m. on the OCSC campus. Miss Wagner's recital is the first in a new series of musical programs entitled "Accent on Youth" to be presented by the Music Department of the Orange County State College Division of Fine and Applied Arts. tar that has helped sell a million records as his latest album says. The only trouble is that there is far too much of a brass band backing up most of his arrangements. At any rate his guitar does stand out on such numbers as "I'll Walk the Line," "Vaya Con Dios" and "Moon River." If you like loud, happy music, turn the stereo up and listen to the golden sounds emanate from the talented fingers of this trained musician. The nicest thing about Al Caiola is that his guitar speaks for itself in an age of vocalists. Stereo UAS 6180: Al Caiola; Solid Gold Guitar There is absolutely nothing wrong with Al Vann's arrangements of "Love's Old Sweet Songs" sung by Eleanor Steber. And there is certainly nothing wrong with the trained and beautiful soprano voice of Miss Steber. Yet, somehow, the two don't seem to jell as a team. With piano and organ background, Miss Steber walks through such numbers as "Danny Boy," "O Promise Me" and "When Day Is Done." Perhaps what is missing is that Miss Steber has stepped outside of her versatile field of opera into the arena of commercialism — and one album too soon. Her background has an imposing array of operatic roles — much to the credit of the operatic profession. Stand SLP 413: Love's Old Sweet Songs; Eleanor Steber.
