It was with mixed emotion that the world looked on the four long months of the Adolf Eichmann trials.
Though everyone abhorred the horrors of the Nazi regime in their determination to annihilate all Jews, there were many differing opinions on what punishment should be given the man who was largely responsible — Adolph Eichmann.
6 MILLION ACCUSE, a shortened transcription of the 4-month trials, is a fitting tribute to the 6 million "silent accusers" who stood with the prosecution in pointing the finger of guilt at Eichmann, though their voices could not be heard.
Through the testimony of eyewitnesses who saw the depths to which humanity can fall — even in this 20th century — one becomes acutely aware of the necessity to preserve the assurance of freedom (United Artists, UAL 9003).
There are many folk singing groups sprouting on the entertainment field these days, however, it is seldom that one can find a group with a real knowledge of the folk tradition.
The Highwaymen, in their latest album, Standing Room Only! show a real depth of sensitivity to the tradition which formed the music they perform.
The excellent harmony of their voices and the fact that they adapted and arranged most of the dozen ballads they sing is an indication of the musical ability of this fine group of younmen.
Among the delightful ballads:
"Johnny With The Bandy Legs."
a humorous ditty sung in sophisticated detachment, and the popular "Cotton Fields." (United Artists, UAS 6168).
TONIGHT, an album of show music played on the twin pianos of Ferrante and Teicher and backed by the orchestra conducted by Nick Perito, is ideal for those of us who like to hear the soft sounds of not-too-jazzy music. Such lilting music as "Tonight," "Lili Marlene," and "Moon River" are heard on this album (United Artists, UAS 6171).
