Hanna (D-Fullerton) at a luncheon meeting, Wednesday, Feb. 28 at the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. Assemblyman Hanna will appear before a regular meeting of the Chamber's Construction Industries Committee, vice-chairman Robert F. Boyd announced. Hanna is Democratic candidate for the 34th congressional District and will oppose Republicans John McGrew and Robert Geier in the newly created district in the November elections. For the past four years Hanna has participated in legislative hearings on the Lien Law and will also outline to the Chamber of Commerce group the possible changes which might be introduced as amendments to the Lien Law in the coming sessions of the State Legislature. The Feb. 28 program will conclude with an audience-participating "open forum" discussion on the Lien Law, Boyd added further. Hanna, a three term veteran of the State Assembly, has served as chairman of the Assembly's Rules Committee and Committee on Education. He also has been a member of the Committee on Finance and Insurance, Governmental Efficiency and Economy, Judiciary and the joint Committee on Education and Judiciary. An attorney, Hanna is a graduate of Compton Public School Pasadena Junior College; UCLA and the UCLA School of Law. GIANTS OF CALIFORNIA NATION'S LARGEST OBSERVATORY ★★ NATION To judge a giant's strength, look at its foundation. Even earthquakes can't faze the 200-inch, 500-ton Hale Telescope of Mt. Palomar, the nation's largest observatory. Its mighty foundation is a 25-mile deep, natural block of granite. California Federal Savings, too, draws giant strength from a massive and monetary foundation. Over $730 million in assets...largest of any federal savings...safeguard the 340,000 savings accounts at California Federal. And its reserves are far above legal requirements. For over 36 years, seasoned management policies have passed all tests in the proving grounds of depressions, wars and booms. And California Federal has another powerful strength: its middle name is Federal. Federal means chartered and fully supervised by the U.S. Government. Federal means savings accounts are ELEVEN CONVENIENT OFFICES TO SERVE YOU. Other Offices in Eagle Lakewood, Los MEMBER: FEDERAL SAVING SCREENING THE FILMS This lush musiccolor film, currently making a replay on county screens, is a good example of how good movies seem to get better the second time around. "King" showcased the dynamic acting prowess of a bald, powerful Yul Brynner and the sensitive portrayal of a British widow schoolteacher by Deborah Kerr on local screens about five years ago. It hasn't suffered "in the can" while waiting for a young audience to grow up in the past half-decade. Its frothy musical numbers, impeccable choreography and startling color add up to a full evening of theater experience at its best. The musical condensation of "Uncle Tom's Cabin," done in the style of the traditional Oriental stage (with black-clad stage hands, miles of whisper-weight silk for between-scenes curtains and grotesquely masked characters) is all the better for the slick packaging in a typical Hollywood musical setting and the best lighting and photography money can buy. Laguna Art Gallery Slates New Exhibits The big event at the Laguna Beach Art Gallery for January was the "Flea Market" which went into space at the Glenneyre garage donated by Roy Arnsten of the South Coast radio and television. In the Lower Gallery during the month of February will be a one-man show of Walter Wellhouse, popular Laguna painter of portraits, landscape and still life. The one man show of Robert Uecker will also be seen in the Lower Gallery in February.
