Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nozoro, 619 La Vernie St. While here they will take in the usual tourist attractions and enjoy the warm weather. Fashion Show Set Bal Masque By Institute 109 Is Meeting A children's fashion show will be held by the Our Lady of the Rosary Institute 109, it was announced at a recent meeting. The show is scheduled for Feb. 17 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Boniface Hall. Chairmen are Mrs. Raymond Heinz and Mrs. Russel Anthony. Theme of the show is "Fairyland of Fashions" and a "salad bar" with rolls and coffee will be featured. Also on the agenda is the annual District Conference to be held Feb. 18 in Fullerton with members of the Corpus Christi Institute as hostesses. Father John Shettler will be speaker at a brunch following the Mass which begins the conference. The Well Baby Clinic will be held Jan. 24 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the La Palma Youth Center. Volunteers are asked to contact Mrs. William Jolissaint at KE 5-6645. Mrs. Gordon Clark has announced that a 100-child orphanage in Quang Ngai, Vietnam, is being sponsored by the Institute. All types of clothes for children, especially infants and children from 5 to 8 years, are needed. Sing-O-Rama in The glamour of Orange County's most exciting social event unfolded this week for members of Lamas de Caridad, sponsors of the first annual Bal Masque to be held at the new Disneyland ballroom Feb. 16. Wayne Andrade of Anaheim, coordinator of the show's decor, gave the ball committee members a preview of things to come during a meeting in the staff room of St. Jude Hospital. Invitations to the black-tie affair will be mailed Jan. 22 according to a report from Mrs. Phillip Twombly, invitation chairman. Lists of guests are to be submitted this week, as well as final addition to the patron and patroness list, advised Miss Marcelina Arroues, ball chairman. Mrs. Angelo Ferraris, charter member and veteran of four years service as the Guild's volunteer coordinator, was awarded a 5,000 hour service pin, largest given since the Guild began in 1953. Opera Festival Set in Lagoon A Festival of Opera has been given the unanimous backing of Festival of Arts Directors in Laguna Beach. Slated to follow the 27th season of the Pageant of the Masters, Festival Arts President, Morgan Cuthbertson, announced the decision of board directors to guarantee the opera project which will include three operatic productions to run three consecutive weekends, beginning Friday, Aug. 24, 1962. As proposed, Eugene Ober who conducted the 1961 Pageant of Masters orchestra will serve as conductor for the Festival of Opera Sylvain Robert, former president of the Los Angeles Opera Company and a resident of South Laguna will act as producer and general director. Mrs. T.K. Sun resident of Laguna Beach and President of the Anaheim Symphony Association will act as "co-ordinator" of the project. Sunkist PTA in Airstrip Issue At the recent Sunkist PTA meeting, Mrs. Donn Michaels, secretary, read a letter from Anaheim City Counsel informing the PTA of the requested landing strip in Northeast Anaheim Mrs. Homer Shapiro read a resolution reaffirming the previous position of the PTA opposing any airstrip or airport within a two-mile radius of the Sunkist School. The resolution cited Sec. 15005 of State Education Code to this effect. The safety hazard and noise disrupting school work are the objections, Mrs. R. D. Beck reported that after meeting with W. R. Messenger Jan. 11, there was no final decision made to drop the request for the airstrip. Cecil Sharpe who has experience flying small private planes told of the hazard of a short landing strip such as the one proposed.
