Appearance Before School Board
Expected To Be More Difficult
People living outside the Magnolia School District in Anaheim are going to find it more difficult to approach the board of trustees after adoption of a new policy now being studied.
Recent appearances of representatives from groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union and the American Federation of Teachers, to protest board actions has brought study of the formula.
It appears to be an effort on the part of the board to make it necessary for any representative of an out-of-district group to gain permission for the floor at regular meetings.
Many representatives of "outside groups" have been addressing the board at recent meetings in an effort to pressure trustees into abandoning both new teacher employment application forms and the district's new Lampasas-Americanism program. The board has stood firm on retaining both

25-Foot Plant Creates Curiosity
NEW PLANT? — Davie's mysterious plant has been dropped these miniatures of itself for the past several months. Davie points to the base of the little plant where roots have sprouted according to his friends who have planted them.

WHAT IS IT? — — "Someone said it was a 'Candle to Heaven' they thought," said E. R. Davie, 1243 Moraga, as he looked up to the top of the mysterious 25-foot plant. "I got it about seven years ago but only last year it shot up that center stalk," he pointed out. "I've asked several nurserymen but they don't know what it is and I sure don't know," he scratch-ed his head.

It's not surprising that Good Housekeeping came to Encino Hills for a feature article in the September issue. For this home is news—filled with fresh ideas. One of its outstanding charms is a beautiful kitchen. It’s typically Southern California—and features a modern gas range.

Tickets On Sale For Parks Series At School
Ticket sales are in progress at the Anaheim Park and Recreation Department for its forthcoming third annual Children's Theatre Series.
As in the past the department has scheduled six productions for the younger set in Anaheim. On the agenda for this year's season are "Rumpelsititskin." "Many Moons." "Flibbertygibbet," the Anaheim Choraleers in an all-Christmas program, and the Anaheim Youth Symphony Orchestra.
All productions will be held in the Anaheim High School auditorium on Saturdays, with two performances of each production. The times for the performances are 10:20 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
All children in Anaheim public and private schools are eligible to sign up for the series with no additional charge for those living outside the area.
All children living outside the area should contact the department at once for tickets. Children in grades 1-3 must be accompanied by a parent.
The tickets are being sold on a seasonal basis but individual tickets may be purchased at the door the day of the performance.
For further information you can contact the Anaheim Park and Recreation Department, located at 309 South Harbor, by calling PR 6-0119, extension 256.
Brookhourst Junior High School students are going to get daily heavy dose of Americanism.
The project has been officially approved by Dist. Supt. Pau Cook of Anaheim Union High School District.
Brookhurst has been carrying on its own program of teaching students the meaning of the American flag, of pointed happenings in U.S. history and pushing daily patriotic exercises.
Born last month in a meeting of 15 parents and 10 teachers from the school, the new program according to Principal Gardner Swenson will greatly augment the previous patriotic practices of the school.
Under the guidance of Mrs. C. Bowen the program will consist of 20 projects in patriotism.
