The 1962 Lincoln Continental's classic styling is enhanced by a redesigned bumper, new front grille and repositioned headlamps. Many customer converters have been added to the car. Engineering refinements provide greater reliability and quieter riding, and less need for car maintenance. Each Lincoln continental undergoes a 12-mile road test. Two models of the luxury car are available this year. The four-door sedan is shown above. The four-door convertible has improved in appearance to simulate the look of a sedan when the top is up. WHAT'S DOING Bob Gresham, your Telephone Manager in Anaheim Someday you may phone by satellite. And, according to Bell telephone engineers, satellites could also be used to relay live TV from all over the world to TV Stations here in California. Bell System people have already moved a long way toward making this a reality. They've bounced coast-to-coast phone calls off the Echo satellite and are now building a communications satellite of a new, more advanced type. They hope to see the new one launched sometime early next year. This is just one of the ways telephone people are working to provide better communication links between the U.S. and countries overseas. A new kind of phone system is now getting ing a communications satellite of a new, more advanced type. They hope to see the new one launched sometime early next year. This is just one of the ways telephone people are working to provide better communication links between the U.S. and countries overseas. A new kind of phone system is now getting its first field test by the Bell System. It's an experimental Electronic Central Office designed to give you even faster, more versatile telephone service. For example, if you were going out for the evening, you could have calls to your home transferred to wherever you're going. Phone numbers you call frequently could be given abbreviated code numbers so you could reach them by dialing just two numerals. This experimental Electronic Central Office is another example of the continuing search to make your telephone service still better in the years to come. Meet Maxine Barrett, a Service Representative in our Anaheim Business Office. She makes several calls each month that she wishes she didn't need to make, reminding her subscribers that their bill has not been paid. She pleasantly tells them that good credit is an asset and a fine payment record is insurance in hard times. Did you know that your bill is due upon presentation and becomes delinquent in 15 days? If you have a good payment record we are much more justified in extending time for payment should the need arise. Pacific Telephone Company Associated Chambers Commerce Acts on Pacific Coast Freeway The Board of Directors of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of Orange County has gone on record opposing any plan by the California State Division of Highways to convert the Pacific Coast Highway into a freeway. Instead, it recommends that is the principle objective is to move through traffic, the proposed Pacific Coast Freeway should be constructed a reasonable distance inland. After study and upon recommutation Executive Committee, the Board of Directors mendation of its Highway and approved the strongly worded resolution to be forwarded to members of the California State Highway Commission. The resolution points out (1) investigation has failed to reveal any person in Orange County who is in favor of converting the present Coast Highway into a freeway; (2) the right to the enjoyment of the Coastal Areas rests in all the people and the arbitrary attitude of the Division of Highways impairs this right; (3) the Coastal Beach Areas or Orange County are one of the most favored recreational areas in the world; (4) it is felt to be unfair, unreasonable and unjust for those in a position of public trust to arbitrarily ignore the wishes of the people by impairing the beaches as a visitor attraction. Flirty-six Big Brothers for 56 fatherless Orange county boys, several of them residents of Anaheim, is the goal of a two-month, September-October membership drive launched this week by Big Brothers of Orange County. The long range goal: sympathetic help for thousands of lonely and troubled boys in the county. Big Brothers is primarily a day organization, each of whose members spend a few hours a week to set an example of character and industry for a troubled boy. The guiding principle of their work is the prevention of juvenile delinquency and anti-social habits before they are firmly ingrained in the boy's personality. To that purpose most of their work is with boys from 5 to 8 years of age, on a One Man-One Boy basis. "The need for more Big Brothers is urgent," says Executive Director Holdburg from big Brothers of Orange County headquarters at 515 North Main Street, Santa Ana. Marine Pvt. Rodge F.
